Crustacean: I love it. it gives me the creeps to know he';s wandering to the streets at night, I wouldn't like to walk into him, haha... great drawing

Dan Liimitta: I love it, great character design, he's being carried by his metal-arms. that's what I would do if I had extra arms, actually use them...

LadyHydralisk: I like it, but first I didn't really see the robot-arm. but then I saw a little robot-tentacle that kinda looked like a... dick. I think it would be cooler if you'd use more tentacle's and realy give him power, he just stands there and his tentacles do the fight for him... but nontheless, thanks for posting...

thanx folks.. i'll definitely be doing some more dsg's- i seriously need some practice in speedpainting.. have gotten a little rusty lately due to non-art work...

as for chakan - yupyup.. actually that was the first thing that came to my mind when i read "wide-brimmed hat".. the cover of the sega genesis game is among my favorite artworks (although the game sucked ;)

critiques:

Crustacean - like the tentacles and the coat
dan liimatta - looks superweird and nice
Lady Hydralisk - the pose is a bit stiff and the tentacles are hard to see
Mehz - not bad for 15 minutes, but the pose's also a little static
Virus Artist - especially like the tentacles, they look pretty functional and mean
goran - brilliant shot, pose and style; very adorable
Hamsta - nice result for a 10-min-job, I like the suction pads
KanoaRogers - good impression of space, but the tentacles look too much like single brushstrokes

demdike Nice, full of atmosphere. It doesn't make sense that a flower would be a light source, but it really does work to draw attention.
Looks like the line from the coat went over his chin, and that's the only thing I can really crit :p

I tried to make it a bit clearer than i've done before...references by rembrandt and dolce&gabbana. :P photoshop, half an hour.

Anyway, thanks a lot Hamsta and you're right, the flower makes only
sense in terms of structuring the image, although I personally like the idea
of him plucking magically glowing flowers in some fantasy forest for his beloved...:)
