Not bad, but there's something i don't like...
maybe that thing in the foreground? Or that those people and those buildings don't fit togehter...
Nice mountains!

Yeh....that's what I've been getting on the other forums as well. It sucks when you can't see the flaws in your own work. Maybe I need some distance from it to really see the problems with the image

pstraub, i love your black/white stuff...awesome drawings are these...
...but this image is boring (sorry, no offense, just my honest thoughts). All parts are equal considering the composition. Too much symmetry and no tension...though most of your images i saw were symmetrical, but they have had interesting details to look at...this is mising here somehow.
The small smoke areas don't fade out like they should...
There are some things i am not sure about, but i guess that they are also little issues which make the whole work unbalanced in the sum:
Too much different colors like the yellow, red, green, blue lights on the machine and the building. Maybe a tighter color scheme would push the picture...just as it happens in your strong monochrome images.
Too much saturation on too many areas...thus the focus is everywhere and nowhere...
great rendering skills on the smoke, sky and the mountains.
Keep it up, pstraub!

hey thanks for the comments fozzy....I guess this one just got away from me. It never really felt right from the onset and I kept trying to improve it but I was never really able to reign it in.
I'll give some of the suggestions a try and see where it goes.
P.S...I'm really glad you like the other sketches
