This is one of my most recent attempts at coloring in photoshop. It's been a while since I drew anything detailed so critique away and help me improve!

That's an excellent start for a concept. The colors are established You can now deepen the colors and add light and shade. Think sculptural light and shade. It's well drawn though. You have a grasp for the shapes.

You should throw some broken robots in the background, or junkpile or an insane war! Other than that pretty good. The yellow is pretty good. Are you using a tablet?

Thanks, I'm in an Earth tone kind of mood. :)
As for the coloring, I'm currently using photoshop with a mouse. My tablet is packed up for the move.

Well, I gotta agree with Vyrmillian, the sketch is great, the colors are there, now to add some dimension, some shading to make it pop. some sort of background besides just the white (whether it be just color or more stuff going on back there) would help make this more pleasing to the eye. You got a great start and I hope you'll take it further!

No values yet!?...get some values down there :)
For mouse rendering, just zoom a lot and keep your finger in the right button of the mouse to change brush size.....The Smudge tool, allthough is fordiven in most cases, it might help quite a lot in this case.

I really like the cracked effects you have going on. A bg would be great!Cant think of anything much else to add. Maybe using your brightening and contrasting tools to clean up the drawing before you color so it doesnt look so washed out. But the drawing is really cute, great job ^_^

Here's a background! Now it's time for me to practice on my values and color!

Lose the background in my opinion. The mech doesn't tie in with it very well, I suggest trying out a few ideas for backgrounds yourself rather than using a blurred/warped photo by drawing some landscapes (be it urban, woodlands, jungle or desert, doesnt matter, judging by the green on the mech woodlands or jungle would be more appropriate but be careful not to make your mech blend in too much with the rest of the pictures color scheme). Practice on drawing/painting a few backgrounds that could be suitable for your mech, you may also want to expand the canvas a bit to help.
Also, if your looking to transfer this to digital, then perhaps re-draw the linework in whichever program you use, as simply scanning it, cutting it out and pasting it is causing pixelation along the outside of the linework where you cut the mech out of. Otherwise stick to the same traditional drawing on the paper, and continue to add value's to the mech and experiment with your backgrounds there.. You dont HAVE to go digital. If your unsure and dont want to spoil your drawing incase you think you might make mistakes, photocopy it or re-trace it and experiment with your colors/values there, you can do this aswell for the background. Others may have better solutions but nevertheless the choice is yours.

I like how this turned out a lot more. The previous background was really haalf-assed, I'm sorry I subjected you all to that!
