Hello! My name is Mike and I have been a big fan of the conceptart.org site for a long time. I even attended the 2005 workshop in SF! Anyways, I thought i would take the opportunity to become more of a part of the community by starting a sketch thread. here are some recent sketches. Enjoy!

Sometimes, a sharpie sketch is just a sharpie sketch.

As always, great personality and movement in your stuffs. I love that you captured that mom and child playing in the ocean, that was such a cute moment. I'm always amazed at how you can create depth with your landscape studies with such rigid hatching. Whenever I try, it gets confuddled and messy.

Your style is much different than many artists on the forums. Are you a comic artist, do you make strips? Your work is wonderfully lively -- though shows a solid understanding of anatomy, etc. Great to see something different :)

This is why I love it when an animator goes to life drawing. You're not all caught up in anatomy and perfection, you look for shapes, angles and life. And each of your studies show that.

Great work on this last set! I love your line economy, 'specially in areas with a lot of wrinkles - really gives your poses weight and balance.

very, very, very nice stuff! i like your style a lot!
the second to last is my favorite - the one with the two kids and frogs.
beautiful lines and especially colouring - the scene, of course, is also
funny and inventive.

when i was at the top of the thread, i wanted to post "give us some colour".

Here is the drawing for today from Illustration Friday’s theme: Geeky. If you have ever been to a big comic or game convention, some companies will hire a pleasant looking girl to hand out flyers and greet people at their boothspace. They are called “Boothbabes”. What really happens is all the guys don’t come within 40 feet of the booth and all take pictures with their digital cameras of the girl. I rarely see people talk to the boothbabes. Yeah, she’s getting paid, and yes dudes want to see the girls, but I feel just awkward for everyone involved.

Wow, I love the style you have here. Exaggeration of the cartoon style really makes for unique and original pictures. I love the sunset balloon ride and the gossiping guards. Plus your marker/color usage is very lively and vibrant. Do you draw these for fun or work? The similar style reminds me of something I would see in a daily newspaper comic or something...

The first thing that hit me about your style was the Sergio-ishness of your stuff! I LOVE IT! Are you, in fact, the man himself? ;) Your style, humour and energy hits home with me. Looking at the panels makes me want to both jump for joy while I grab a pencil and paper! :)

[The Biocreep]

This week's DrawerGeeks subject was star bellied sneetches. I love Dr. Seuss' style, and I tried to mess with it a bit.(I had some really crass ideas but I decided against them).

I had a few drawings before this one, however they did not have the stupid expression on the face of the character which I feel adds quite a lot. Tell me what you think!
