I know this isn't concept art, but this is the only site I post on. So I wanted to share some other work I do. I used a felt marker on the Russianwolf hound, which is the thinner dog, to get a base color , then used pencil to complete the drawing. The other dog is all pencil, no felts. Comments and critiques welcome.

Fur obsession.:D Captured the very moment of these dogs. Great details and thumb up pencil work, could you show some zoom in versions of the dog on the bottom?

These are gorgeous. I have seen a Russian Wolf Hound, and they are very strange looking dogs. You got it just right. These are just beautiful pieces. Thanks for sharing!

Hey!! THANKS for all the compliments, I really appreciate them, very encouraging.

As for some of the questions you asked. These drawings are commisioned pieces. So when I do them I don't put a limit on how much time I will spend on them. I treat them more as personal projects to improve, I want them to be the best I can do everytime. The Russianwolf hound took 3 days to do, maybe 25 hours. The other dog was longer. I ran into problems with the paper, it had a sandy texture to it that isn't normal for this type of paper. This caused me to go over most parts of the drawing several times. So the number of hours of drawing is probably close to 60+ hours and that time was accumulated over a few weeks.

Reeds:
I will post some close ups later today. The lower dog, is already a bit larger then the original. If you view the pictures at 1024 x 768 the Russianwolf hound is the same size as the one I drew. The other one is probably 15 percent larger then the original.

I do use reference pictures.

I have other drawings that make these look kind of simple by comparison if you would like to see them.

Thanks again

Fantastic stuff! Would've thought these were photos if it wasn't for the plain white background.

Good job!

Great stuff on your site too... shame the pics are a little too small... please post bigger =]

Hope you don't mind dude but I'll post your url for those who haven't figured it out yet and who can't wait to see more...

Those are so beautiful. You really nailed that soft fur texturing. I was just doing pet portraits a few weeks ago in pencil, this makes my stuff look like it was drawn by a 10 year old. Now I see how much farther I have to go. Thanks for the push.

Yes, lets see those more complicated pictures, if you would post them.

Hi again.

I am in the planning stage of redoing the wildlife site. Thats why I never posted the URL. Now that you have it, go ahead and have a look. Like Krayz said though, the pictures are small. The site was made by a friend of mine a long time ago. Back when you had to be very conscience of file sizes. I will post some links soon to larger versions of these drawings and paintings. You will have to scroll to see them, but you will be able to see them a lot clearer.

I am also working on some ideas for matte paintings and concept art. A field I plan on working in. I will post these sometime in the near future. Right now I am working on human anatomy, I feel I need to have a greater ability to do characters or figures to take the matte painting and concept art to the level I want it to be.

I can't wait to see what your concept art looks like. There is so much control in these pencil drawings...that kind of control and mastery can make concept art look fantastic. Thanks for posting man.

I was about to ask that. It looks like the paper has almost no tooth on it at all... everything is so... smooth.. I really want to know how you got it so smooth!
