I posted this piece not too long ago in the works in progress forum, and now I've finally decided to abandon it. I was originally intending to do a long tail curving around in the back to compliment the angular form, but for now I'm leaving as is. Maybe I'll go back later, or paint it. I don't possess a scanner, so the pic is digital photography at it's worst ( right click - view image to see detail better ). This was one of my first times rendering metal, and I'm not really satisfied so critiques are welcome. About 6 hours total ( in between breaks at work ) with mech pencil on cardstock. Update: Took some more time to render. The concept is a cyborg going berserk as the result of an internal virus. You can see the corruption in the left arm and right leg. Scary >:D Did the shading in about 2 hours, between work, other pieces, and playing with my dark offspring ( aka kids ).

y-s, nobody is saying its "whack"

It's a fully realized character, rendered until I'm satisfied with it. When I say "abandoned" I mean the old saying that a piece is never truly finished, only abandoned. And it is just a few hours of work. 6 hours as stated. The time it takes to do a piece doesn't dictate whether it's finished or not. Please offer critiques about the piece itself ( aside from the range of values critique you made, which I appreciate ) and not my choice on where I post it.

And it's not a sketch just because it's penciled or may not have the "full" range of values as said. That's why I'm asking for critique. The lines are defined as well as the rendering. I don't consider this a sketch anymore than most of the people on here would consider the featured artists graphite pieces sketches.

"That's why I'm asking for critique"
you post in the CRITIQUE CENTER to get critiques.
i only see a few spots on this piece that are fully rendered. the rest aren't quite there yet.

I understand. I wasn't fully aware of the critique center, so I'll move this over.

It may not be finished but the design looks really cool. Pls give us some more - maybe even some finished designs ;)

I'd love to be able to keep my lines as neat as yours. :blah: . I think its great myself.

Around the age of 13 I put down my pencil and started drawing exclusively in pen and ink. This went on for about 8 years. It's helped me control my line direction and quality. I recently started drawing more in graphite. If you want to get your lines neater I think this definitely helps.
