I suck at painting.

After trying to paint this one I realized why I havn't done it before. I totaly suck at anything there is to do with colors and painting.

It's flat, it has a bad color choice and it generaly sucks.

i think you might need to do sum photo studies for a bit before you jump into doing things without ref

Try focusing on composition, pose, character design, mood, etc before you worry about coloring it. Maybe pick up a pencil, and draw somthing out then post it on here to get crits. And when you do color it, build your values in layers, start with you shade and build light on top of that. Like fubu_stu said, lower the oppacity of your brush and just start building it up. Make sure you pick one light source and stick with it. I would like to see you work on this more, I think it has great potential. Goodluck.
