Hello guys.
I've never modelled anything and now I want to try it. But I have no idea where to start.
Let's take a head, for example. Let's say I want to model a human head in 3ds Max. How do I have to do that? Do I model the single parts (nose, mouth, ...) at first, and then set them together to one peace?
And how do I model a nose, for example?
I'm thankfull for every help.
(Or do you know any websites/tutorials, that can help me there?)
Thanks.
(Excuse me for bad mistakes. It's the fault of my English-teacher ;) )

Zonk,
There are tons of tutorials out there to help you get started modeling. A common way to create any type of model is to start with a primitive object, such as a box, and mold that object through extrusions and cuts until you start getting the general shape of what you want. Then go back and refine, refine, refine.
In your case, a chartacters head, it would be optimal to have your sketches scanned in and imported into the 3D program your using. You put the 2d image or sketch on a flat plane and then model around it as a guideline.
Check this link out: http://www.3dcafe.com/asp/tutorial.asp
There are some tutorials there which should help. If you want more just do a search for "3D tutorials" on any search engine and you should find plenty of help.
Good Luck!

Thank you.
I think that will help me.
And perhaps you'll see my first models soon...

well 3d modeling is a beast in its self. head modeling is tricky but i wounld suggest staying as far from 3dcafe as possible. cgtalk is pretty much this forumns 3d counterpart. www.cgtalk.com. a good start is checking out an artist by the name of bay raitt, he is respnsible for gollum and has created an edge loop system that is studied and taught in todays 3d schools. http://www.secondreality.ch/ this site has a step by step subdivision head modeling tut its not the most effective out there but its pretty darn good and it helps you to think quads and edge loops which is what its all about.
