OMG, I just got an awesome idea!!!! (which I've actually stolen from some other website I used to belong to years ago, but shuttup. That part's irrelevant.)

Anyway, what if you all submitted your PHOTOS of your faces (like chest & up) to me along with your user name on this site, and I put it all into a PDF yearbook format. And, then we have a conceptart.org YEARBOOK! It would be all alphabatized and neat and clean and we could all look each other up right away.

Huh? Huh? Sound like fun?

Anybody? Thoughts? Suggestions?

hrmmm, would it have all that cheesey stuff like 'most likely to succeed', most popular, etc? i hated high school yearbooks, lol. sorry =p

To me it sounds like fun :). It could be even good as some big poster. Maybe also add real name next to user name.

No cheese, character, and yes, Farvus - real names would be awesome too. Just photos + names. Maybe each submitted photo should be cropped at like 150 by 200 pixels?

It'd help a helluva lot for workshops! Yeah I think its a cool idea :)

Ursula with the intiative again :)

I think it's a neat idea. I'd be down for that. Let me know if I can help.

would it be possible to have a piece of artwork as well as a photo? Dunno if people would want to do that, but I'd find it much easier to associate names and faces and artwork if they were all in one place at one time

how bout self-portraits instead ?

I think it sounds cute. I'd be up for it.

OMG! Ideas!

Hmm, Dave. I was actually thinking that too, but I was wondering how to keep it clean and not 1,000 pages :D

Loomer, self portraits would be pretty awesome, but then there's the issue of some artists being more abstract.

I sort of am thinking this layout on the left. But if we put artist + art (right), it might get too tiny unless we put less per page.

Great idea!

I like the idea of a piece of our art in there too, however we fit that into the layout.

Voted yes: an all around useful tool for all concept art events, sketch group events and any occasion for meeting people. I honestly don't know like half the peoples real names or what they look like, and I'll be going to my first art event where some ca.org peeps will be so I'd like to know names and be able to recognize people.

I agree. In Montreal I missed the chance to talk to alot of pals from the site, because I did'nt have enough time to find them in the attendance.

I love this idea! I like the thought of adding artwork as well.
Ursula, I'm totally willing to help you if you need some assistance

You've got my vote :) It would be really helpful, as already stated, for meet-ups and events.

Thanks for the responses, guys, and thanks Interceptor and Entroid for offering to help.

I'll do a couple of layouts at actual size and I'll get the specs posted here (as far as exact width of photos and art needed.) Then, I'll make a template and us 3 can have people start to email us their stuff, maybe? How would that sound?

I was thinking people could post their stuff in this thread, but then there would be all sorts of sorting to do through text and everything, so maybe email would be better. I dunno.

I could put a deadline on it, too, just so it goes smoothly.

It's a pretty large project, however it's done. But, I think it would be pretty cool in the end.

But for sure, this would be awesome to have.

I like it...although that means I'd have to get myself a semi-decent photograph (hopefully the required resolution isn't too high - I only have access to a fairly old digital camera)

I'm all for it!
I think it would be nice to send you a photo of ourselves, along with an interpretation of the same photo, done by ourselves, or just a piece of artwork you had lying around already.

who gets the dux(smartest dude) of the class award?

Jason Manley perhpas( i can just imagine him with a huge grin on his face, tossing up his graduation cap up).
It would be nice having things like, goals, age, country etc under.
fantastic idea!

wow that rocks.
I like the photo +artwork thing the most, but leave it as an option for anyone
though that would make it chaotic

Right now I don't see if I have any representative artwork. It would be really hard for me to find something good enough :/. That's why I'd prefer only photo + name.

why did i suspect this...? oh well, the idea sounds nice. although as patdzon stated, how's it gonna be handled with new members?

edit: gringo, that's pretty much what you get when you go on the member list here.

in reality, this is quite a task to undertake. You're dealing with thousands of artists. be prepared for a lot of no shows. Ask Cody how much work it is to organize things this big.

Awesome idea! I'm in!

Suppose it could be updated on a yearly basis, a kinda "so make sure you get the 2006 edition because 2007 will be out soon"-thing lol.

And how about no artwork just an avatar of the artist's choice - that way it should be easier to match people? If of couse the extra is at all possible, not seeing how you guys will fit that much into one yearbook...

That's true. But if someone does'nt want to be in it, they don't have to. I think this thing is for people who plan on attending workshops or other gatherings or something. Kind of like DS's CA friendly badges.

Yeah, I wouldn't make it with EVERY single member here. That's just insane!

I would treat it sort of like any Tdome or contest: Whoever sees this post and wants in, gets in. And, it's really just for fun and for face to user name reference. So there will be no text besides names. No "best of." No "most likely to."

Also, the resolution of the images won't be that high. Probably just 150 dpi.

I just woke up, so lemme get the template going and I'll post the required size here in a bit, along with my email address for you to send pics to.

And, tie, don't even think I didn't see you in here. *calls police...*

I agree, though it would have to be a recognisable piece of work I suppose. Sorta like the very very top of this page on CA.
Hehe I guess the guys at the top are half sorted ^^

"Most likely to fail at life"
and
"Most likely to get banned"

Those are some things to think about.

I say aye, cool idea Ursula.

I like the idea, count me in! *nods* Although, even if we're only beginners, comparitively... does that make a difference? For example, depending on years of experience or something, we could do the freshman-sophomore-junior-senior thing. O.o

I know I hardly post here anymore, but for this I'd recommend a real picture next to the person's avatar. That's the most quickly recognizable thing about them other than their art. And the art would look bad if you shrunk it that much.

CA yearbook could also be a great place to compile old WS photos and events of CA artists getting together.

And some noteable threads and accomplishments.
