William of Ornshelm - Scottish Dandy
It's been said that the reason Scotsmen wear kilts is because sheep are afraid of the sound of a zipper. But putting that aside, William of Ornshelm wasn't like other scotsmen of the highlands. He had a bent for fashion that went -beyond- kilts. Some of his creations were downright wild! The men never could quite bring themselves to wear William's creations, but one or two of the women were bold enough to try.
Now... concept! :yayca:

sorry for the last week - i tried to make it from where i was but in the depths of those forgotten places.. the gprs was out. Later my battery died.. i was cut. :(
I just arrived back to Sofia, i'll be on the road again tomorrow (munich, marseille, montpellier) - sunday i'll be on the road again but monday i should be fine.

btw - advice of the week - travel in your own country - i feel like i have learned abut collor and i grew as an artist just by.. traveling.. and seing other stuff then airports and cities.. i've been to places... that rarely have seen humans ;) driving more then 2000 km. oblio needs a rest.. another rest.. damn...

Sir William of Ornshelm didn't quite work out as the tailor for the royal guard. Luckily for William, the Lady of Ornshelm rather took to the uniforms the kings men deemed too flashy for the battlefield and he spent the rest of his career establishing the Queen and her Ladies in Waiting as the most fashionable courtesans at any royal gathering.

When William became tired of Scottish colors, he decided that Ireland was the new Scotland. He worried that the public would think Irish colors would make them less of Scotsmen, so in his marketing campaign he was shown standing proud over the Irish leprachaun.

William of Ornshelm takes traditional Scottish fashion to an 80's extreme with his New New Wave line for Spring. This Scottish dandy found his calling on the runways of Paris modelling occassionally for Jean Paul Gaultier in his Madonna-dressing, Vogue days. Now in his 40's, William insists his designs are meant to cross the boundaries of gender and age. This paper-doll advert was a big splash in British Vogue this month. What will Willie think of next?

William of Ornshelm was indeed the king of fashion. His idea was that it was more important to look good then to feel good. His styles were intricate in detail and his colors where subtle unlike the deeper and darker traditional scottish colors.

William was always teased as a child for being "unique". He didn't wrestle with the other boys. Instead, he combed the sheep and mended his own clothes. He also refused to eat anything to do with animals. Being a master huntsman, his father did not take kindly to this and thus disowned poor William from the clan. William was left to wander the world alone. In his travels, he came across new fashion styles and new materials. Years later, William returns to Ornshelm in a very "unique" manner....

i'm looking at everyone elses...and then i'm looking at mine, and I'm wondering if i'm doing something wrong? hehe. what is everyone using to colour? i've been using Photoshop CS for quite sometime, applying new techniques i've learned from the internet and yet I don't seem to be improving much. It takes me so long to colour as well. I'm not sure why...

William of Ornshelm was known for his prowess on the battlefield, where no foe could match him. Which is probably the only reason he could get away with wearing what he wore. You see William also had a fondness for fashion. As a child William was a quiet kid who wore the most bizarre and peculiar outfits. But because of his size, no one questioned him, and William never felt he had to explain. He just did what he was compelled to do. His creations sometimes came on a whim, or other times, served a purpose, usually known only to William. His most notable and memorable creation was given birth on none other than the battlefield. In the middle of a bloodbath, William's kilt became tangled up between his legs, nearly costing him his life. After returning home victoriously, William went straight home, emerging sometime later the next day. To everyone's surprise and horror, William had trimmed off more than half of his kilt, leaving little to the imagination. The men were disgusted, and the women all blushed. But it was in that blush that a legacy was born. Behold the mini kilt. In time, William's new creation grew in popularity among women, who learned the benefits of less attire. And the men who scoffed him before, began thanking him for his contribution to society and history. And so thanks to William of Ornshelm, we have the glorious wonder that we know today as.....the mini skirt.

Gave guastaferro, migsta and chuck, mate each a vote. I usually make it a personal point to only deal out one vote but lately I´ve thought about starting to give 2 and in rare occassions 3. I think Migsta´s probably is the one that would get my one vote just because the clothes are the most far from a traditional scottish outfit of this bunch while still giving the sence of being a scottish outfit (there were a pair of really spaced out outfits among the other´s) but I enjoyed guastaferro´s contribution in terms of character more. It´s also the one I think is the most well painted except for chuck, mate´s. And since I love chuck´s rendition in the end I decided you guys all deserve a vote from me. Good job to everybody else as well.

Migsta - got my vote just as promised. :) It's just far enough away from traditional scottish garb and still within the concept. Really good work. Sorry to the rest - but Migsta's is to a high calibre of work. Most of the others were treated like comedy pieces - not that there's anything wrong with comedy - but the thing I liked he most about Migsta's is he didn't go down the easy route of treating it automatically as a comedy piece. Whew. And I'm done.

Voted for Chuck,mate. Beautiful colors, chuck. It's a great character but also a great little illustration. I wish I was able to place my characters in such a wonderful scenery. His expression is perfect too, and he conveys to me the "dandyness" best of all.
