Hi folks,
Here are some model sheets for a character I was playing with. (turnaround, facial expressions, poses) How can I make the character more suitable for a particular style like animation? comics? games? Are there more things I can do to develop the character? How can I improve the quality of the artwork?

First thing, arms out. If you cant see his feet from the front, the drawing does you no good when it comes to modeling.
Next, nothing seems to line up. Make sure the everything lines up in the turnaround.
Also, there isnt much in the way of consistancy. Make sure to draw the character a lot more, and try to get the same feel for each one so we feel it is the same character.
There is a start

i don't know if you're quite ready to bust out lines first shot, but that looks like what you're doing here, go in w/ some sketches first (or clean up the lines over these) and you could have something really good here.
the only thing that concerns me is the concept, and if this is what you're going for then good job, but it looks like ET with a nose and bellbottoms. that was just my first thought when i saw the pics before i read so i just thought i'd let you know that it's coming off a little ET'ish.

even tho you have shown us that it could be a 3d character because of the turn around, it stills seems super flat to me. you need to make it feel more solid - you could take one of your drawings and trace the major shapes, with another piece of paper on top, with circles and big shapes, no details. Once you found your big shapes use them to build your character upon from there on after, always starting with the big shapes then once they are correct add the details. This should add a lot more solidarity to your characters

Solidarity?
A union of interests, purposes, or sympathies among members of a group; fellowship of responsibilities and interests: "A downtrodden class ... will never be able to make an effective protest until it achieves solidarity" H.G. Wells.
Are you sure you dont mean solidity?

Thanks for the feedback everyone :)
I'm feeling that I need to always cleanup (center row of expressions is lacking this). I should have the arms away from the torso for clarity of feet, and modeling. I should use horizontal bars for clarity of the lineup of character in turnaround. I should keep construction of character in basic shapes for model sheet as well.

Games. . . I can tell you a bit about games, because I make 3D art for games. If you really want to know how to design good characters for games, get your hands on a 3D modeling program and build a character. Until you know the limits of 3D modeling, you won’t know how to design for the medium.
