Well, I see I’m not the only one who isn’t sure about the topic, since there are still no posts… Riiiight, here is my take on it, a plowing, sowing bionic drone on an alien world farm… I’m not feeling quite talkative right now, so I hope the basic idea is clear. If not, I’ll explain later.
Done in about an hour, again, in charcoal.

Commercial Agricultural worker drones are grown to enormous size, given mechanical supports and are "reprogrammed" for their new roles. These guys are immensly strong and have tons of stamina, and feeding them is cheaper than buying gas.

"My country scenes no longer have their hidden face, mysterious and adorable. My roads
no longer lead towards the kingdom of the heart, a kingdom as strange and mysterious as
she herself. I have lost those bitter-sweet imaginings she inspired in me, which were all my
life. Now I am alone in the center of the earth."

squidmonk3j - thumb looks great, be good to see it finished off.

Hamsta - nice, love the silhouette of the farmhand.

I'll post this for now and hopefully get some time to redo it, kinda fell foul of every bad habit I've got and ended up with something more like a convict chained to a robot...hmph.

Burrito - Nice work! I like your nondescript characters pulling this thing along.
Goran - Interesting use of color and atmosphere, that place looks *dirty!*

while waiting for the next topic... a remake...

Crustacean: I really like the atmosphere, feels a dark saga. how did you make the wall-texture, below the light?!
goran: Nice! How much time did you spent?

Crustacean
August 29th, 2006, 04:52 PM
Grembloh: I´m afraid the texture´s gone bye-bye now. But it came with the sketch (http://www.j-stengade.dk/humpsketch.jpg), which was made with watered down acryllics on paper. Must´ve fiddled with the contrast a bit, by the look of it.. :)

Crustacean: well.. edit 1 was a bit dark.. but this edit 2 is much better although it lost most of its original saga-feeling. It would maybe do good if you darkened the ground, the lower part of the image.. to make it more heavy/stable.

Grembloh: Thanks for the advise, dude. I think I will do that, and also add some details, maybe some grid fences or something to the background. Hopefully restore some of the saga. :)

Burrito - great piece ! the greyscale scene/men vs. the colored drone really adds spice, this really pushed me when making my own one :)

mrdigs haha, convict chained to a robot is spot on. The man is on a different perspective as the robot (which could use some more bio to it's mech) the bg is a little bland, and doesn't really connect to the characters - pop some mustard into your convict and robot for starters

Hamsta - Thanks for the crit - Yeah I kinda messed this one up ! Was hoping to come back and rework it but I didn't get time in the end...having said that I hadn't actually noticed the perspective problem until you pointed it out ! :nohope:

I'm grabbing internet time when I can at the mo so no real crits...but...

Vorace - Superb, really captures the mood of the brief.

Burrito - Love the way you draw your creatures, the drone is cool.

Crustacean - Nice to see this developing from the sketch to where it is now, the darker feel really works, good work with the drone too.

this is a sketch I made today during my English class. it's way too simple, so I started to draw a poor robot that is beign helped by a man. it's just a sketch, maybe I'll re-draw it again and make a better version with colors. I hope you like it...

hi Ducasse
you are right! skateboarding is the best feeling in the entire world, and I wouldn't trade it for anything! I've been skating for 4 years now and stuff, it's the best thing ever happened to me...
