Jon Foster infulenced portrait.

influence is a loose word, this is basicly a quick master copy with my features superimposed. the colors in Jon's work have always amazed me, after seeing the detail of one of his posts, http://www.conceptart.org/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=731i
I was able to gain a new appreciation and respect for his line edge value and mark making abilities. I learned so much from this one and it forcred me to take a more honest look at myself and the marks I make. thank you Jon. you have helped me grow as an artist today. please forgive me for the blatent bastardation of your majic style.

looks great, I think it needs to have some more highlights in the lower section of the face. even if they are just more muggy yellows. Maybe even the background to the right of the face could be a tad lighter to show the shape more.

Yes, I definitly agree with Davi. Lighten up the lower right corner to show us the shape. Regarding to what I have learned, it's a good thing to lighten up areas around the shadowside of a portrait's face. That way it's easier to understand the picture and it's getting clearer. Otherwise you may not want it to be clearer?!?

My only problem is..... Yours is better! The say you rendered the lit eye is excellent. I think I will take from what you did and rework it on my file before I send it off.

Thanks Andrew, I have never been so flatted!

-killing.samson -you know me too well

Hermchen and Davi - inteligent sugestions guys, I strugled with that area of negative space several times, I couldant get it to feel right and so tried to obscure it with dark valus, but you caught me, well done, When you point things like that out it reinforces me not to fall into bad habits, thank you

Jon- i wish I could accept your compliment fully but I merely replicated your destination colors and strokes, the journey you must have taked to arive ther falls beyond my comprehension. it was great being able to take the time to examine all your footsteps. lead the way and we will follow.
