Very nice! I fear underwater effects, myself. Only three little things.

First, the branch arm... what the hell's up with it? I don't really understand the symbolism you were going for,b ut if you're going to leave it as a stick, perhaps make it a bit more complex?

Secondly, the thighs seem to be vanishing into nowhere. Maybe make them blend into the coral more?

Finally, I think it could bear to have a few more fish in it, unless you want the water to look very barren.

Very nice work so far, though!

good work, but don't u think that the left arm is a little long? I don't really like the roughness of her body's texture... keep on workin' this will be great...:D

I think it looks good so far, I kinda get what your going for but as for here arm i would make the transformation more gradual (sp) and reference some coral so it looks more feminin and less like a twig.

I suggest making her left arm do the same thing as her right arms so that it doesn't seem so strangely enlongated.

but nice work man, I like the lighting and the colors.

thanks for the crits :) they're a big help.
here's a little update:

still working on the arm, gonna see what it looks like with some pieces of seaweed clinging to it. the coral on the sea floor is proving quite difficult - trying not to make it look too cluttered.

much better.but the thing between her legs is still dubious;)
