This is 100% digital so far. What I'm going for is details and so far its just messy outlining for cleanup later.

it appears he's tilting back his head some.. make sure you clarify this through the neck's musclature.. - JAG

More detail and testing colors. I intend to have a sun-like light source behind the Space Marine. Any ideas how this would change the lighting on his back and the planet above? I've tested it some on the planet and his armor.

Crits? Should I move this to the Critque Center if its not done yet, or is this the place?

isn't you as a space marine ??? watch out boy your space marine have one eye bigger than the other and maybe the ultramarine icon to much far from the pad's center.

Yes, its a sort of self portrait. I fixed the eyes (hopefully). The icon is discouraging right now so I moved on. =\

did you draw it with pencil first? clean up your line work then start painting again is the best advice i can give.

Alright, a fellow space marine fan! So far it's looking really good. I think the eyes look good as well. Really the only thing I see at this stage is that the right side of his torso is slightly larger than the left. I run into the same thing when I draw marines, check out my sketchbook to see examples.

As for the chaper badges, both need a bit of work. The one at his neck is kind of mushy at the moment. The one on his pauldron looks good, you just need to connect the line on the inside of the "U" to the inside edge of the crossbar. Take a look at the badge here to see what I mean...

I can't wait to see how this turns out. :)

Thanks for the tip and the link! I tried to go to your sketchbook but it needs a user/pw.

Use a circle lasso for the planet... it's a bit lumpy! :)
Also I think having some hands rested on a power sword or gun or something would ad a bit of interest to it.

Here's an update. I'm trying the dark purple color for a shade, but does it work on something metallic like metal, or should I use dark tones of the Ultramarine blue? I've never used this brush and painting style before, so it will not be as refined.

Darkpixel, I didn't catch your post until I uploaded this, I like the idea, its weird how his arms disappear. And I will fix that damn planet yet!
