hey guys, i was just wondering what is the most common way that people post their pencils? i have a picture that shows the 3 main ones, but i want to know if everyone basically agrees with the book i took the picture from. it looks like the top one would only be comfortable to use while working on an easel(sp?). any thoughts and explanations would be greatly appreciated. what people say here will greatly influence how i hold my pencil from now on. :)

I aways use the writing position and vary the tighness of my grip depending on how tight i want the pencils on my drawing to be. Hope that helps...

I use all of them depending on what I'm doing. Wiring for precise / powerful strokes, under hand for shading / hatching, cupped for reaaaaaaaaally subtle flat filling etc. I also use the over hand position.. whatever works :)
