Hi all,

I wanted to try a different style, so I did this. I would welcome any comments or remarks. Does it work? what doesn't, etc...

Thanks,

C.

"Gothic" as described by Mirriam-Webster: of or relating to a style of fiction characterized by the use of desolate or remote settings and macabre, mysterious, or violent incidents.

I think this image fits the above definition quite nicely.

I like the way you direct the eye and the visual flow of the story, (though it hiccups just a tad for me around panel three four and five.). It's definitely showing a Mingola influence but I think it's got enough of "Teghel" to really set it apart. Great work!

Behemoth, thanks for your critic. As far as the satanist part, please refer to Imp Head's clarification. Additionally, I must point out that if your satanist's reference was based solely on the pentagram, then you must realize that this one's pointing upwards, sign of magic, and not downwards, sign for satanism.

Imp Head, thanks for clarifying. Indeed, Mike Mignola was the influence (obviously). Thank you for your kind words. I would ask you to please clarify what you consider to be hiccups in panels 3, 4 and 5, so I can understand and correct the problem. I would appreciate. I've noticed that you wrote "around" panels 3, 4 and 5. Does that mean that it's the interrelation between the panels that doesn't work (the colors perhaps) rather than the panels themselves?

In addendum, I think I'll rework the color on her face in panel 8, it's too dark.

I'm having a hard time NOT reading the sequence 1, 2, 4, 3, 5... Even though you've got her LOOKING at panel 4 in panel 3, there's something about the color or the placement that makes me see it like I mentioned above.

Before I figured it out, it freaked me out a little when she started putting clothes back on ;)

tegehel -
Hey this is pretty cool. I do have little crit to offer & this might be more opinion than something you should change.
I thought the last panel with the mouth & pentagram earring was a little weak...

-this is just opinion, but a pentagram always makes me think of cheesey satan/hell comics and heavy metal music(Slayer)...even though this is supposed to be the symbol for magic like you stated
I see that as being different than goth. anyway I just don't like a pentagram symbol, but that's just me

-also the pentagram I think is too bright of a yellow...I would maybe darken it up ...maybe some thing closer to the color in the back of the top right panel

Anyhow cool stuff I like the Hellboy influence.
-Andy

edit- I also would have gone paler with the skin tones...

phait & synthetINK: thanks for your comments. As I stated, I putting this one on hold for now. I have, however, tested your advices at home (paler, lowering the yellow), but it turns out that I don't like the results. I must admit that I did not spend hours on it either. The paler version was just too "cold" but I could deal with desaturating the pentagram. I shall do that next time I rework this piece.

In the meantime, feel free to experiment and post your results. Maybe I just didn't find the right amount of paleness.
