I was trying to get this book done for the San Diego Con. but ran into a few problems. Ha, ha... didn't actually make it to the convention. The book was late; I made too many changes, then it got stuck with custom and took a long time in transit. Anyway it here :)

Great and amazingly detailed work, I especially love the inked ones (is that digital or real ink?).

That guy in the 4th image by any chance inspired by "Pirates..."' Davey Jones? These guys wouldn't have looked too out of place in the film...:pirate:

Nice work Hoang! Wicked sketches, so clean and so tight. So is the book out now?

Slav: Thanks

Quicksilver: You never know, we're all related one way or the other :) Thanks for your kind words

kab: Those are real inks. I used a red sable brush and crow quills for inking, now-a-days I used allot of technical pens. Which tend to stiffen-up my work. And no these works aren't inspired by "Pirates..."' Davey Jones, but I definitely dig movie.

dtran: Thanks dude, the book is out, click here to order it:

Really cool cover. I prefer your digital stuff far over your pencils though.

I bet this book is amazing in actual size... the sketches are great of course, but wow, 11x17" self published hard cover. Dude you are insane : ) You should be proud.

Carnifex: what are you talking about dude, your work is awesome! Anybody can print there work, the cost of printing isn't too bad, if you shop around. There are allot of options out there.

pogonip: Thanks man!

SupaFightingRobot: Me too, I love the painted stuff, but you what; sometime I just wanted to roll up my sleeve (with pencil & paper) and go to town. Thanks for your compliments.

pogonip: Thanks a bunch!

0shade0: hmm... coconuts; Ha, ha... I loved working on that picture.

se7en_ It pretty big, just the way I wanted. Even the printer said that they're never done anything like this before. I'm pretty please with the result.
Thanks

Ninth: Thanks, I think it is one of my better piece.

Amazing sketchbook presentation. If this is what you were doing to land a great job, then you best get it, because this work is outstanding. The painted works are just top notch man.

Good luck.

Love that faux-paperback cover design! All the sketches look stong, I prefere the monsters, the girls seem a little stiff to me, & the one wrapped up in the ropes/Spider-man webbing has the shiniest boobs ever! Nice work tho'.

Saikin: Ha, ha... don't we all :)

shadoman: Thanks allot!

blacky: I should have titled it something else, when people think of sketchbook they think of doodles and scratches, but thanks for your kind words.

Thestjester; Doesn't make any sense does it? That's the fun part about self publishing, you call all the shots! Best decision I ever made. Thanks

Quicksilver: a fellow country man :)

Staz Johnson: Thanks Man! that's quite a compliment coming from a master comic artist like yourself. And I agree, the girls are too stiff. I'm working on that, I need models :)

Awesome sketchbook. Shame about the bikini shot. For me it represents evrything that went wrong with comics. Your other work is so far above that!

Egets: Thanks

darkchild: Thanks

spudstudios:I'm not sure what you meant by the bikini shot? do you mean that most books now have way too much T&A? To me, it was a paying gig, bills to pay, mouths to feed. ha, ha... I don't think it was out of taste.

Loga4:Thanks

Jnurp: Thanks

Here is another piece from the book, this is my original comic. A work-in-progress...

wow. loving that last post. I know it was a paying gig but the Coconut piece is so generic. You are so much better than that. As proved by the 3rd panel in the last post.
Loving it!

Your work is truly outstanding, the sketches still have me in awe. That is something I strive for, fine lines, clean, and all clearly visible in detail. I'm really digging the last images of your orig. comic. Nice work man.
