Hello, and welcome.

You've come this far. I greatly appreciate that. Here are a few things that you should know.

I am a writer, though not a professional:
My tale is no different to the many other writers who post here; praying, hoping against hope that severe financial deficiency and relative inexperience can be made up for with raw enthusiasm for stories and the comic medium. Tell me that this is true.

I am a dreamer, though not a shoegazer:
Having written for my own enjoyment and development since a very early age, I'm now involved with a fantasy-themed poker site that will launch sometime in the near future. It is currently just forums, the one which I moderate being dedicated to the development of the role-playing element of the game. If you are interested in what and how I write, visit:

My alias is Akhmed, the chronology of the stories is from the bottom up.

I'm ambitous, but I'm no fool:
I've just begun putting ideas for a digital comic about magic in the modern day. Right now I'm just looking for people who are excited by the concept and wish to contribute. The specifics of the job will depend on the level of (and how much) feedback I get. If I get past this stage, I believe it would be unwise to rely on anyone too heavily unless they're willing to invest a lot of time for very little (tangible/monetary) reward.

I believe that belief is the most powerful force in the universe...
The story will be set in a world parallel to ours, in which magic of all kinds once existed, the gift of a priveleged few 'willworkers' - but is now more difficult to practice because of the weight of society's consensual beliefs (some of you might recognise this idea, more on that at the end). The story will center around a hotch-potch cabal of these 'magicians', fending off those who oppose them whilst uncovering the secrets their personal histories conceal.

To say more than that at this stage might be misleading, but if you're interested, here's a list of further reading (note: these don't all reflect the tone I'd like to set with this, or my personal beliefs, and my knowledge of their work is usually far from encyclopaedic, this is just a guide):

The work of:
Neil Gaiman, Dave McKean, Douglas Adams, Alan Moore, Frank Herbert
Celia Green, Toby Litt, Matthew Kneale, John Irving, Frank Miller, (some) Stephen King

And pay particular attention to the ideas in the RP book:

Mage: The Ascension

On which all of the above ideas are heavily based.

Anyway, if this sounds like your cup of tea and you'd like to contribute, let me know ASAP.

Cheerz

Trilly
