I am too afraid to take photos from "strangers" when they are like one breath far away.

I wanna start with my new zoom lense to take some street-photos. 200mm should be perfect for that - and I think that no one will even notice my shadow.. hehe

careful, they might think you're some kind of voyeur with the zoom lens :P

nice link, some good tips. i suppose it's easier said than done but he is a pro after all. I highly recommend one of his books titled Cape Light (http://www.joelmeyerowitz.com/photography/book_2.asp). Some nice compositions and simple ideas.

I took yesterday some street photos and I didn't feel comfortable because people looked at me with the face: "wtf are you doing?". :nohope: But no one said anything...

Wear a large coat, a hat and maybe some dark glasses. Never take long paces, just shuffle from area to area. If you must talk talk in single syllables and as gruffly as possible. Make sure you have your camera showing [around your neck] at all times. Maybe carry a notebook also.

Time how long it is until the police arrive.

About the video, if someone wearing all black came up to me with a camera and started prancing about declaring that he was now 'invisible' I'd just ignore him and hope he goes away. His little 'invisible' trick does seem to work, but maybe not for the reason he thinks it does.


*I don't even know if [Na]Tanya is an Eastern name, but it sounds close enough to make do. I only know two or three others and I want to save them for later.

SO true. haha, his ears made him look like an overgrown pixie. i was genuinely amazed at the way people just let him do it tho. whenever i do, i too get the 'wtf' look :P

btw: What says the law? Am I allowed to take photos for my private use from any person? (not matter if they want it or not?)
- or can passants force me to delete photos from my camera?

Insane, german law is very difficult to understand. on fotocommunity.de is a wiki about this topic.

in england its ok as long as your in a public place and its for non comercal purpasis, i.e not going to sell them or use them in a film. weather is the right thing to do moraly, differnt question. Its one i dont have a ansew for, just do what you feel is wrigh, you sceem to have a good head on your sholders
