:yayca:Hey all. Im an 18 year old guy from sweden, and this is my SKETCHBOOK! oh MY! Im an art-student at the school of Spyken, andaaaahhhh.... I like toeeeehhhhh... eat cheesedoodles and draw. And stuff. I almost never use reference, something I should start doing. Favourite artists must be Phil Hale, Ashley Wood, Jon Foster, Nic Klein and Marko Djurdjevic. Yes. My heroes. And heres some of the stuff i do while eating cheesepoofs:

Ye freakin' arsehole! It's so good! Love the sketches, Gunnar/Herr Kvick/Mats/Miles/McWilmur/McClifford sure looks nice, especially his hand! Not to mention Konrad/Viktor/Magnus! Dig that second one, you've got to finish it! And that dude flying, he's kinda cool. I like the background, the dude in the front, the colors on him looks a bit rough now, but I'm sure you'll fix it!

How do you link somethin and then make the link say like "My sketchbook" instead of like:

I assume you want to draw like Da Vinci so you're gonna have to do some life drawing and all that.

If you don't want to draw like Da Vinci then what are your goals?

Orifice
August 24th, 2006, 06:08 AM
I guess I wanna be as good as Da Vinci...?
And I have realised that I should do alot more studies and whatnot. Lifedrawings. Draw more in general. So I've descided that the next thing to do is to do some studies.

Orifice
August 27th, 2006, 05:38 PM
Maieth, Sarcophagus Oh guuuuys... You make me blush damnit! Thanks for that.

Born StubbornWhy thanks alot, I really like this newfound medium. I think I will do quite alot of digital painting in teh future. And I will sertainly start sketchin away on them studies. I assume thats what you mean.:)

SeedlingMan I just dont know. Like my highest whish is to become a fulltime conceptartist, but it is just recently that I have had a slight thought of that that might be an option. It would be real fun to go ful out for that, but it seems a bit risky. I dont know if I have a shot or not... I think that I might have a shot to work in some way with art if I continue to develope in like some years or somethin... I dunno. I might end up at McDonalds.:) I could become one of them wheird old men with 20 pidgeons in my appartment, scareing small children!:D That would be almost as awesome

Hey sorry for teh craptastic english.

Seedling
August 27th, 2006, 09:55 PM
Orifice, are you aware that concept art is just a subset of illustration? Look around: there are illustrations everywhere. Somebody’s got to paint ‘em. If you work up the skills to be an illustrator, you could end up doing concept art, or book covers, or illustrations for non-fiction magazine articles, or paint murals, or sell paintings through galleries. Or several of the above. Being a professional artist is risky, but if you do it right, a broad illustration education can open a whole lot of career doors.

Anyway, these sketchbooks can be particularly useful if you pick a specific goal for them, such developing one particular academic skill or another. Then folks like me can encourage you. ;-)

Cheers!

Its an entry in the C.O.W round with theme "highly explosive". Its these things developed from fish, that come in pacs over los angeles in the year 2531. Some of them Kamikaze into buildings, and then the others come and eat the debree created by the explosion. For you se, they can only eat small bits and are forced to blow the buildings up. well thats about it.

We got this project at art in school the other day. we are gonna come up with sorta a theme, or be inspired by a certain artist. And in this theme deliver 5 things. One painting one sculpture one print and two random/elective things. So I descided to choose Jon Foster as my inspiration as he is kindova favourite artist and do such cool stuff. So heres one idea to the painting... will come more since I can come up with somethin cooler.

This is a style I might use in my comic. might. What I most want to do is to do it tabletwize, though it will probably be b/w so ink n that stuff is probably better. The story and feel I want would be best achieved with tablet though... so I dont know. Well here it goes anyways. Its the same comic-idea as the guy in the last image, in my first post.

ArtZealot - Thanks alot! Yeah, that worked out fine. I like the closest powerline. Cheers:)

Dreamworker - thanks! And I se what you meen with those legs. I'll certainly do more, n try to improve on that. good call.

Camilografix - thank uoy! But sorry, I have no idea how to get those... I think they somehow updated the system a while ago, and you got thumbnails instead of the pics. But not anylonger, so I dont really know. They bug me frankly, the only use is that you get this thumbnail next to your sketchbook though ya dont choose which. I wouldent really have paciense enough to click through a heap of thumbnails just to se the pic. So maybe your better of without 'em anyway.

Sarcophagus - Indeed BAJS! SNOPP! Thats a good idea! I shall try it! Yeah, thanks for liking!

Your pieces rapidly improved through this thread. The first few paintings seemed really flat and outlined, but that quickly went away through the progression of your paintings, the painting with the giant fishlike creatures flying over that city nearly made me give birth, an excellent piece. I think you should have posted that last because nothing seemed to impressive after looking at it. I really like your work, please post more, draw more, so I can seeee!

The big question is WHAT you nearly gave birth to! I shall just have to keep pushin myself in the future so that every post is greater then the one before it... I have a good feelin about what I've got cookin right now. I have gotten some good ideas lately, n if I can pull it of nicely it'll be great. Hm, not really sure myself actually, at the time I wrote that I felt all my sketches was of no interest. You know... boring stuff. I'll try to do some more stuff off my own though rather than anatomy reference sketches all the time! And soon it's time for the selfportrait, it's ging to be fun!

One more speedy. Its an idea I got to the comic Im doin with Sarcophagus and Fredrik. Its a boss for a giant corporation. And I thought that it might be cool if the main characters fought their way into this massive building and in the end met "the boss" (thats what I'll call him) in the end. And he was a chimpanzee in a suit with a cigarr! He would be really really clever and desceteful...

HEy man, buddy list what is that , are buddies then? Its wierd that you put someone in your frend and they automatically become your frends. hehe. still its nice to be your frend . now the comic , cool update . but what would be better is you start palnning for longer term , do rough ,basic sketches of the next 10 -15 pages. And have the basic plot of atleast 50 pages in mind. Dont put details yet, start doodling. After you think the doodles are coming right then go to details. Like the lighting on the bodies. We will defintiely do a comic together. Heck I have even started writing a couple of stories,,,hehe.

I have serious problems regarding this comic thing. I am real tired of the story I have right now and have a new one. So I dont know which one to choose.

In the first one the main character meets up with his dad and the comic has about 5 pages in blue-ish b/w and a more light-effect-y style. In these pages The character gets alot of story to what has happened and who he is. His dad is someahat of a crook he finds out. N then the comic has a so n so ending, which I could change. Wont tell the end!;)

The new idea is that ya follow 2 people. Both of them are extremely lonersome and has never met another human being. So these two meet by sercomstance, and together they can overwin their problems. Another thing could be that they battle eachother and the reader get to roote for one of them. Cuz they are kind of opposites. Hector is a city man and is kinda reprecenting fire. The otherone lives out on a big sandy wasteland, has white hair and dark clothes. He is representative of wind.

Both ideas are kinda so n so. The second one seem like the more fun to draw alternative right now... But the first one is more worked through n stuff.

HELP! check the poll at the top of the page. take a fuckin stand man n VOTE! make a change...;)

Envisor
January 27th, 2007, 09:55 AM
Hey man gotta go with a mixture, how about as he is chasing his father, or trying to find him, he meets this opposite of his and they fight, and are really like equals, so both of them, beaten to a pulp by one another, find a new found friendship, or rivalry. The new guy agrees to help find the others father, who by what he knows of is still alive and running around the city.
Not sure what you think of this. The ending sentence kinda sucks, but you can figure the rest out or go with one of the other of your ideas.

Hey
Very nice style in here, great stuff

For your comic, i personally like your first version. It would be nice to get some background informations about hector, and the meeting with his father seems a good way to get this in. You don't have to make it that long, so you can have fun drawing other stuff after it. Just my opinion

Can't wait to see more of those pages, keep at it

I personally think the second idea sounds cool, two characters to develope, and that house is wicked! Kinda Mad Max feel you know?.. Anyways I don't think you should care about what anybody say, just goes with the one you think will be more fun. Or do both! Two 5-page stories?.... hehe

that picture where you used ref. is awesome! the nose is perhaps a bit crooked as someone mentioned earlier but damn nice. And perhaps try to experiment more with the different brushes! keep up the good work pidde

Portrait revisited. What do ya think? My opinion is that the first one looks more raw. So I personally like the first one more. Wright sumthin.

Hey Offrice, mate! cool recent stuff!
On the last one the ground looks cool, on the former ones it sometimes tends to lack details some spaces look kind of empty. Furthermore, the horizont on the last could be a bit lighter for beeing farer away than the rest?
The sign is really cool!
Hard working, man!

WOWSERZ! 5 PAGES! thats a respectable amount I'd say... I'd like to take this incredible historical moment in time to thank everyone who has come with inspirational, constructivly criticsome and motivating comments. You guys have helped me alot! So thanks everyone!:D

Sarcophagus - The sign fits my liking too. Though I'd not say I got so much of an own style. If I do kinda have, its not really what I would aim for... Fits good for a comic though! Spanks man, and really, UPDATE!

Pascallo - Hey long time no see! I'll be sure to swing by soon.
Glad you like the poop. I do agree with ya, the emptyness is somewhat of a problem in the first one the most. I'll try to fix that for ya!;) And very good tip bout the horizon meng! Thanks for that, its the first thing I'll fix. Seya around!:)

Yeah! The comic kicks ass, more of that please :) a charming lose and paintery(spelling?) style you got there. One crit might be to vary the texture you pop over the image in the end, it stands out abit much as it is.:dad:
Anyway, I'll keep an eye on yer thread :) keep posting

Sarco - K. Later then. N thank you for your nice comment Johan :)

Wasker - Thanks to ya man! Cool that tha style's appreciated! Horray!:D I'll defenitely follow your advice meng, thanks for the headsup.
Please do come back hehe, I'll be sure to do the same. in... your thread... that is. yes.

Ok, down to bussiness then. I have come up with a new quest for myself, which is keeping me from my comicing since yesterday. K, I'll take this from the beginning. Mr Conan o'Brien once mentioned "www.hornymanatee.com" as a joke on the show and if you mentione a site that site has to excist, so they mede it. And it has gotten several million hits so far. People have also been sending in fanart to the site. Conan has on his show displayed some of the fanart that has been sent in. You are probably getting where I'm hedding now. The quest is to make a fanart including conan and manatees, good enough to blow 'em away so that they show it on Late Night. It would be so cool! I'm a fan o' the show, so if they showed it there it would be so damn awesome. So here's what I've done so far. Its the 6 gunmen of the late show surrounded by horny manatees.

hey man that is totally rad. Loved the colors and rendering on the middle guy. Great movement on most of the figures. Be carful with the proportions on some of them tho, for instance the middle guy. His head looks too small.

cheers!
