In darkness bound...

I'm having some trouble with my current painting, specifically, everyone I ask to look at it says its too dark. I have no doubt that my monitor is to blame, but I'm not really sure how to fix the porblem. could anyone help me?

i dont think its your monitor--the values look dark

try using lmiddle, and ighter values for highlights

also try a really light or a really dark BG itll help seperate the fig from the BG
