First time sketching. Looking to become great at Concept Art. Any advise on what to draw or how to draw is much appreciated.(I know absolutely nothing about sketching except pen, pencil and paper heh:[ )

Seems like majority of the forum recommend starting with anatomy, so here's some Andrew Loomis studies: (Sorry for my major lack of skill, it is my first time)

Skull Study

Arm Muscle Study

Male Proportions Study

Female Proportions Study

That's all I have for now. Hope I'm headed in the right direction..This anatomy shit is borring and tedious as hell though. Ehh, guess it has to be done.:)

Thanks. I'm trying my hardest to find the time to sketch as much as possible. (You've some pretty amazing stuff in your sketchbook..:O )

Well the thunder woke me up after setting off car alarms so I just did a quick little study:

Important Bones

(Not much, but I'll have more tomorrow. Need to get back to sleeping)

You show a good sence of form in your studies. I also like the subtle posing of the two figures. Keep on going and this will be a great thread to follow.

Very good, keep studying. Fill pages with some of those and you'll see the human body in a whole different way =)
Good good good !

Here's a quick anatomy study I did:

(I'll update again in a few hours, should have 4-5 more sheets done tonight.)

It's strange, I feel like it's easier to draw when I'm tired late at night.

I got tired of the anatomy studies, so I took a little break to attempt my first portrait.(not of me, some old dude in a Loomis book.) I know it's shitty>:|

First Portrait Attempt

I really don't know how to shade, I don't know how to do much of anything sketching wise.(I'm going to start taking some classes at my High School this year.)

And some Important "Land" Marks

good consistency - one thing to note is to make sure you understand something before you move on, rote-learing is useless, give everything a function and it will make sense and remembering will be easier, try to learn everything individually and in vacuum and it is very difficult.

keep it up.

Eh, just wanted to try a portrait for fun. The anatomy studies get really borring. Regardless, I'll have a bunch more tomorrow.
