I spent about.. 20 mins reading through some of the things people put up there. I reminded me of www.Grouphug.us, except it wasn't just random life problems....it was because of a video game. I can honestly say, reading so many people contemplating suicide due to the game brings me almost to tears myself.

I wonder if this problems will be ever be a bigger issue that chassing after "violence" in games instead, some education about the subject would certainly avoid this type of problems.
I stil remmember that for example Baldur´s Gate had made some in-game warnings.

I remember a long time ago reading about people addicted to Ultima Online. This guy's whole life had been enslaved by a mere videogame. Ever since, I've wanted to make these MMORPG games for a living.

WoW is just like any other pastime. It serves to distract you from things that are stressful. Just like drawing or painting, etc. Like the saying goes, ignorance is bliss.

That sums up what I have to say.
Actually that's what I contributed to the website.

Ok, I'm fortunate enough to love concept art more than games. Last game I played was path of neo I think. So I can't speak from the "inner circle". But from the outside, some of these guys need a good fucking beating back into reality. I dont think I've ever got so angry reading posts on the net. Some have got to be fake I'm sure. But theres just soooo many, its insane.

I think those ppl who are really addicted to wow have a different problem than videogames. If you prefer to spend hours clicking on monsters in a group to going out with friends and having a fun time irl you gotta ask yourself where your going with your life.

i started playing guild wars a few weeks ago after someone gave me a free account. But then after playing for 6 hours non stop i suddenly realized that it was evil, so i finished my quest (errrr...), changed the password, removed the game from my harddrive. The next morning i woke up with an urge to play the game, but was glad that i deleted it. So fucking addictive for some reason.

Same here: lvl 35 on diablo 2, realised that it's a wast of time and effort.
I don't really like playing video games anymore, unless i really have nothing else to do.

The words 'self control' come to mind.

Actually I haven't played wow for about 2 months, and just today I thought "Maybe I can just re-enable my account again and play casual on a blue monday" Good thing I read the comments, better to stay away :)

A lot of those are obviously fake, and pretty funny.

I got addicted to FFXI for a few months. After a while those MMORPHs or whatever their called become almost like a second job... Too much of a waste of time for me. I can understand they have an addictive nature but but like HM said, self control is the key. Don't eat 5 big macs in one setting, dont play WOW for 12 hrs straight.

Haha amen. Geeze, yeah, I hear about people getting way too addicted. I play this game, along with any others that seem interesting to me at the time. If you don't feel like playing a game don't play it. Somethings are way more important than sitting in front of a computer, or tv. So simple.:nohope:

I enjoy doing both but there's nothing wrong with peopel who prefer a virtual world. I'm a judgemental guy overall so when I pass on passign judgement on something it's probably with good reason. Besides some health differences hanging out with your firends in game is comprable to hanging out in real life. I don't know if you've ever played an online game with your firends but both are fun to me.

Games that end in half an hour or so are fun. Like a CS match, or a DoW free for all, or 3vs3 strategy match. Those kind of games are fun... but games that *never* end, well, that's just sick.
