A little doodle I did tonight. I'm heading out to Wisconsin tomorrow. I really regret not getting together with Lono, Android and JohnM, and other Texans before I left. Hopefully we can get a chance again.

Damn, this is wicked, the only small inconsistencies (<---spelling?) that i see is the brighter purple in the mouth. Which I really like, but i think it'd look better if there were hints of it in the rest of him.

Ink: good idea on the purple. I liked it too but didn't want to over use it. So I just balanced it out across his head. I used it to try and give his ears a more transparent look. Thanks!

Mitch, looks really scary! Just a hint: My anatomy knowledge is still limited but I think that when he'd close his mouth/muzzle (word?) he wouldn't be able to bite properly. The length and the angle of the upper half of it looks somehow weird. Correct me if I'm wrong!

Jester: It wasn't important to me to make sure he was functional. I wanted something grotesque. It 's kinda gnarly to picture this guy trying to chomp on a victim successfully when all he does is mutilate the flesh because his teeth are imperfect. He has to stab with the upper teeth to shread it a little then chomp with the lower and shread outwards, then.. uhh sorry. :rolleyes:

very, very sweet! I have to say the thing I envy about you (and most of the quality artists here) is the ability to leave something loose and unrefined but still convey so much detail and form.

The envy of that ability only comes a little higher than your great use of color, anatomy, imagination and dynamics ;)

Different from your usual style where the pencil lines are more visible. the colors are very strong and give it a good 3D effect, I look forward to see this new way of working implementet on a bigger and more complex image.
I am not crazy bout the way you rendered the veins in the ear, I know it is a minor detail, but for some reason my eye keeps landig in that area of the painting...
I like it though!

i sort of like the idea of the misaligned jaw because if you can imagine it would dislocate it's jaw to bite and tear, that'd be cool too.

ummm... if you dislocated your jaw you would have almost no power to bite or tare. Dislocating your jaw would only be good for swallowing things that would normally be to large for you to swallow in the first place.

By the way did I happen to mention that I really like the Man-bat?

well yeah, if you base this dude on human-like or snake-like properties, then yeah, but uhmm.. i mean, like.. he's a bat.. and a man.. or something.. so it's a man-bat. it should be able to dislocate it's jaw and still tear your nuts off if he..er..it wanted to.
