all those lines are curves when i draw them, but for some reason photoshop decides the faster i draw a line the more straight its going to be >_> Thing is, in painter its fine, all my lines correspond with my movements, same with open canvas, but for some reason photoshop hates me, its really annoying scince i use photoshop so much, scince i use it for skinning models as well as painting (painter/open canvas dont seem as skinner friendly). If it helps here's my specs;

Tablet: Wireless design and work tablet 400

Comp: Intel celeron 1.7ghz
Radeon 9550 256mb
640 ram
40 & 80gig hard drive

Would adjusting my video driver settings help in anyway?

=/ if somebody could help I'd be very thankfull. It puts me off using photoshop so much atm, and i really could do with practicing in it.

I would say it would be the wireless tablet being the problem sadly enough, although I might be wrong. Wireless signals come in at a certain frequency that is generally lower than trough a wire, meaning less data/second, also response time is generally higher. That would explain why 'faster' curves are straighter. However if it does work in Painter it could also just be that photoshop is too much for your pc to handle and at the same time translate the tablet data.

It is wired to the pc, its just i think its refering to the pen,

Im thinking its probably the later, seeming as the lower the resolution i use the less the lines are effected. I cant really afford much of an upgrade though =/ what would be more important? cpu, ram or video card?

You're right, my mistake I thought the whole tablet was wireless since I have not seen a Wired pen in the last five years.

As for you PC, I think maybe your Celeron isn't perfect for the job, the RAM seems OK, and so does the rest. Just guessing though.

i've heard some theories about this.

A) if you have your wacom close to your monitor, this can cause some issues with drawing smooth lines and overall tablet behaviour.

B) it could also be a RAM issue. I try my best not to have more programs open than i honestly need to save all the possible resources for Photoshop/Painter.

I don't think it's only the RAM, but also the CPU power.
Don't know how big the circles are you are painting, but the effect should reduce when you go smaller then.

Also try this out when closing ohter applications in the background.

The thing with the Wacom boards to close to the screen was with the first generation ones, like mine (Intuous 1).
But that's only when using a CRT monitor at 80 khz and your board is to near to the screen your pen start jittering in the corners, even when it's not moved at all. But changing the monitor frequency to 75 or 100 should solve this problem!

I also have this problem and have always had it ever since I first started using PS years ago. I was always amazed when I saw other artists being able to draw regular lines in PS and I never understood why mine never worked (hence why I use Painter). I've found out that this happens to quite a few people, but I still don't understand why. (I have 1024MB RAM and a 2.2GHZ processor.) It's a mystery. :[

It's hard to say, since you aren't using a wacom, but I've had this exact problem with openCanvas and my Intuos2. I found out that it was the new driver that was causing it. So try installing different drivers.
