one day this idea popped into my head and i started immediately...took me bout two days to finish, coz i was unsure about the sky at first.
i think it's one of my best pieces since it has some kinda "atmosphere",but that's just me.
tell me what you think about it:)
tear it apart!

Hey Carnifex...I really like the concept for this illustration. A lonely guard out at night. Pretty cool.
Couple Crits:
It looks as if nothing is in perspective...everything seems to be on a flat plane. There is no foreshortening that is happening. Even the stairs and the railing look like they are on a 2d plane...not on a 3d plane.
I'm not quite sure if I am doing this exactly right but maybe this will help...if I am doing this wrong and someone else can help please do.

Another things as well...the image is really washed out...when you do your pencil work you really want to control and push those values. Use a HB or darker so you can achieve darker values. those other two areas I circled were problem areas as well...the wrist is bending too far and the face doesn't look as if it is resting on the leg. Hope this stuff helps...keep it up bud.

oh yes is see what you mean...but it's an decayed temple, right?stupid excuse;)
yeah...well...i did this painting some months ago and didn't care about the perspective much:rolleyes:...i don't want to change the final picture, but maybe i'll change the one i have saved on my pc...yeah well...pencil...i'm using a 2b most of the time...is it too hard or something?or didn't i just push hard enough?
then:what can i do to make the face look like it's resting on the arm?add some more shadow?
thanx for the comment anyway:Dany more?:)
p.s.:anybody to colour it?i'm so heck lazy when it comes to that;)

Yeah if it's decayed you wouldn't be putting straight lines or anything like that but that would be the underlying structure that you would keep in your mind. In other words, "If there wasn't a huge chunk missing from this railing...it would look like this...". I think the problem with the head and arm come from the sideways view we have of them. If they were in perspective...his elbow being to the right of his eye...etc... then it would be more convincing. The way the arm is positioned feels odd right now.
Just things to keep in mind for your next drawing...keep it up bud.

hehe...i just pointed out that it's decayed so it's therefore the structure is off that way;)
