How come I can't install my scanner?

Well, I got the installed the CD's the Scanner came with and everything they tell you to do and install. But the problem is the 'new hardware has been found' pop up isn't coming up which is what I need in order to install the driver, does anyone know why this could be? Any help would be greatly appreciated :!:

what kind of scanner is it? have to admit that the entire question doesn't read all to well. it's kinda hard to understand everything. but usually new scanners come wth updated drivers.

Have you actually connected your scanner to your computer yet?

yep! When I press 'connect' on the little scanner icon it just says unable to connect, I've installed everything that came with it and I've installed it before, I dunno wtf is wrong with it :( I''ve had this problem a countless number of times before aswell, :( PLEASE HELP, my sketchbooks popularity is at stake here :D

maybe the new hardware popup isnt showing because its not new hardware to your machine. did you uninstall and reinstall the scanner? check you control panel to see if it is in fact already installed. and do you access your scanner from the scanner and not photoshop? if so try import twain to scan. and look at your control panel to see if the scanner is there at all.

nope its not there, and I think I did reinstall after my first attempt. The 'new hardware found' icon DID used to come up btw. And when I disconnect and reconnect the scanner the 'you do not have virus software installed' popup comes up instead, that didn't used to happen, it only happened when I actually tried to install the scanner with the installation CDs, :/
