Has anyone taken classes at the Entertainment Art Academy in Pasadena? Are they any good? I want to take a storyboarding and production design class there.

How do academies work? I'm not very familer with them. Do you guys give out BA's or is it just for people who want to do individual classes?

Hi Eshara,

Most smaller schools do not give out BAs. We are growing into becoming a vocational program which means we will be bestowing a certificate to its graduates. Most companies in the entertainment industry are not looking for a degree but a fantastic portfolio. Our goal is to get you into the field with a great portfolio and we will help you develop your own intellectual properties. Also, to further answer hanajo's question, Justin Thompson teaches a production design class that is awesome. He was awarded an Emmy on his work with Genndy on the Clone Wars series. He also worked on Samuraii Jack.

Thanks for the info, Mike!
Who are you bringing in to teach storyboarding for Fall? And is the production design class for more advanced students? I consider myself more of a beginner...

David Schwartz is teachign storyboarding. Besides boarding he has also directed for televison animation so he comes with knowledge form both sides of the fence! As for prod des, it is for all levels. If you are a beginner, it is a gret way to start your education and if you are pro, it will teach you new things and give you a fresh abstract view of fundamentals.
