i got a question... how does something thats finished always end up getting moved? it's not a work in progress, and i'm not going to edit it... it's just a finished piece... so why does it always get moved here?

sorry to burst your bubble. (Im really sorry)but its for your own good

1. When you drew this picture, did you

used a reference of miss spears, or drew the picture from imagination.
If you used reference, post it with the picture so we can see if you were right on the mark. or way off. and to be frankly honest. That picture does not look like britney spears

2. You have alot of anatomy errors in this picture. from britneys face, features are off. and the babies hands. (im not going there). the babies anatomy.

Can you really honestly say, that this picture looks finished. The next time you decide to put something up, and say its finished. it doesnt hurt to get your picture critiqued. and correct any mistakes you made.
You want your work to the best it can be. And right now.. your not showing it.. :( and especially with commissioned work, or anything professional work. you want the art peice to be a very good peice. (not a peice with so many mistakes)

anywho.. good luck to you

White rose, im glad u started it :) couldnt have done it myself. anyways if someone asked me, britney spears would have been my last guess 0_O acctually ET or michael jackson comes before, and yeah i agree this is SO not finished. and when u say u were Comissioned, who said that? ur friend or something?

anyways, the babys head (yeah although britney drop it in the floor a couple a times in real life ;)) is still totally off!! u need to fix that badly. her face, use some really good reference!

to be brutally hounest with u, looks like some 50's wrestler with a wrestling suit with only one leg, a big ass and too long arms. im sorry but u have to realize this and i hope u can take this like man! ("or woman!" quote: life of brian) anyways take that picture as a practice, and do it again, and dont be affraid to experiment or make details, and shadows etc.

the last thing, is it a shadow or is it some sort of clothing on her back?

One more thing, The comment i said, is not to offend you. nor your skills, we all have things we need to work on. But with every peice it should be a learning experience. so for every single one that you do, try to give it your all. Dont be afraid to use references, to understand how something is created.
Dont live off references though.

also, you said this is going to a magazine. I would think if you do something for a magazine thats going to be published. You want to work on the picture to be good.

And why did you not to the picture in color, or greyscale.
also, there were a couple of things more. i noticed in the picture.

britney spears eye, apear to be very symbolic. eyes in that perspective are not drawn that way. the babies face and ears,
the lack of a background. also britney's hair. I dont remeber her ever being brunette. Also the lack of balance bettween highlights midtones and shadows.

*thinks* i think thats it : /

he jumps around to art boards and isn't very fond of critiques :\

the babies face is downright frightening and alien like!
needs a lot of anatomy work and the proportions are way off. Her arm is very long and creepy.

the face lines are very harsh and chiselled, distracts from the overall image.
clothing folds need work too, not sure what's going on with the ribbon hanging from her hair to the floor...batman cape!

and the shading seems very rushed, feels more like a sketch.

fair enuff, that photo doesnt really look like britney in my most humble of opinions, but you simply havent captured the picture, and if that is what you were commissioned to do....... welll......... needs much more thought.......

white rose - i didn't say it was going in a magazine, i said i was comissioned to draw a picture of britney from a magazine. it's the new harpers one on stands now.

n3gative - i know what message board you're coming from which i might remind you i haven't been to in 3 yrs now ;) however since you stated "he jumps around to art boards and isn't very fond of critiques " i invite you to go to a messageboard i am a part of where i don't seem fond of critiques. cause i'm a part of alot of them, and i'm sure you can't find anything i've said disrespectful towards critiques within' the last 3 years.

as for everyone else, thanks for your input.

one more thing. u wonder why u got moved from Finally finished section? take a look at the art in the FF section (look carefully and really see what kind of art is there! and what efforts are made) then take a look at the "sketches and work in progress" section, if u have keen eyes u will understand what i mean, and u will know where u currently belong, but plz dont take it as an insult, just keep on practicing, thats the only way up

ah, i do aplogize, i misread things again (*sighs softly*). but also, with that picture, to give you a hint, if you decide to do it over. to translate the image onto paper. alot of the features are "implied" by the usage of shadows. if you put the picture into grey scale and blur it a bit, it will be easier to see. how values are translated.
implied lines (created by the usage of highlights and shadows
define lines (created by an anctual line. .
think of it this way, when someone draws a nose. how is it usually illustrated mostly. 1. it can be translated by lines
and also you can use shadows and highlights to define the nose

i do hope it make sense ... good luck to you
