Hello everybody. This is my first post here on CA.Thought it would be nice to start here in the self portrait section, although I must say that I`m a bit intimmidated by this site. It seems so huge. It`ll take me ages to get to know it.
Please do tell me what you think of this pick:)

Technique:Acrylic on canvas.

This may just be a personal preference, but I would lay the paint on thicker next time. There's a lot of areas (expecially between areas of different colors) where the white of the canvas shows through, and I think thicker paint could help cover those.

Looks good though. I agree, a ref pic would be nice.

I agree there is a little to much canvas coming through it makes your painting seem a little washed out. You may want try an undercoating of paint with a neutral or dark color before you start your painting next time.

I think your paiinting is quite good though, great color choice and all. I too would like to see your reference.

But who am I to say anything as I have not had the balls to post anything as of yet.

Yes, the paint is probably a bit too thin. More than likely a result of the fact that this was my fourth acrylic painting or something after having painted almost exlusively in translucent watercolors ( aquarelle ). I built this pic up " saving the white" as I would in watercolor.I`ve learned a lot since then. Any way, I would greatly appreciate if anybody could recommend any advanced books on the use of underpaintings.

Thanks for commenting.
