One book that really helps with pen technique is this one:
http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/0823045293/qid=1054063629/sr=8-1/ref=sr_8_1/002-9852693-6076052?v=glance&s=books&n=507846
It goes over the techniques and shows tons of examples...it is a fantastic book on just drawing as well. I would check it out if you get the chance. Hope that helps.
You are definitely showing promise with this technique...you are creating shadow "areas" which is very important. Keep at it...order that book!

MCM thanks for the help I will check that book out.
I actually started doing pendrawings to get a better understanding of shadows, since I feel that I have to think more before doing the shadows compared to pencildrawings and paintings where you more easily can correct them. And its fun creating shadows with just lines.:)

I did a newbie fault the ink in the fountainpen is not waterproof thats makes very difficult to ink it without the lines smudging and the ink I used to ink was waterproof so it was hard to get the ink even. So my newbie to the newbie tip is make sure to get waterproof ink for the linework.

Hey you controlled this wash very well...it isn't bleeding into other elements...great work man. Try some landscapes or tree studies from life doing an ink wash...it's very fun. I would be interested to see how that would come out. Great work man keep it up.

Thanks for the comment MCM.
I actually smudge a little but I used that ink as a part of the shading and when I was finished I filled in those lines that were damaged.
I will do some tree studies next week. I have a lot to do since I graduate from college this week... I saw that there was a tree-studie thread at the middleclass is it ok to post there? and if... is it ok to post there next week even if itīs too late?
Hey MCM I started to draw all to late in life but now when I started I will not stop.

I started drawing only 8 months ago and I am 23...don't worry about that at all! I feel the same way. I just can't stop either hehe. You can definitely post in that tree thread. I look forward to seeing it...great work man!
