Very nice. I prefer the style you used on the second one. The first lacks the texture of its little friend, I think. Good stuff. Gooooood stuff.

très joli chummy

The first one could use a little lightening and a touch more contrast to bring out its gorgeousness, but they are both fantastic, swirly creations of wonder.

You could use your same style to make a really awesome background of vaguely seen seaweed or polyps, in a different color so the fish stand out against it, but echoing the textures.

Now, that's nice! You caught my eye there, squiddy!
The more I look at that first one, the more I like it. (I sort of looks like if it is going downhill in speed and can't help it. Woooaaahh!)

Really enjoy the deep sea mystery-touch!

Very interesting textures you have here. The subject itself is so simple, yet you really made them lovely to examine. Well done. I would love to see how you would do if you put a few in a piece, and in less static poses such as you have now.

Man, if I pulled any one of those out of the water, I'd either:

1) Start screaming, "Dammit, Dad! Throw it back in! Don't get it on your hands!"

2) Ask it to grant me my three wishes...right then and there...

3) Mount that little bugger and put it on the wall for all to see...Oh, yes - they'd be envious of my prize and for a small fee, I'd let them touch the odd texture of its shape...

Excellent brushwork on these. Popped a couple in my inspirational folder...Can't wait to see what's going to appear here next...

I think my favorite little bit of your work is the wonderfully textured "cheek" of that red and yellow fish. Making the aft ends of the fish darker and more abstract is a great way to bring the focus to the heads of the fish. Excellent work. I love how you exploit the possibilities of digital art.

The first one could use more detail on it's hind area. From the perspective of not knowing anything about Adobe or brushstrokes, it looks good, but other than that, it can also be interpreted as a fish coming out of a swirly portal. I love them though, nice touch of grunge, color, and fish.

I love the colors and I really enjoy the head down to the body. But when it gets to the tail and fins I get turned off by the easily recognizable and all too common "grungy swirl" PS brushes. IMO it would look more beautiful if grungily rendered out instead of popping in a downloaded(or made) preset.

I think they`re perfect just the way they are, esecially this row of three fishes with the red one in the middle and I really like this dreamy effect of fading out the fins that way

My cephalopod brother, I can't say I'm a huge fan of the boat, its wings feel muddy and formless and the roots hanging from it just don't have a very interesting silhouette. The over all composition is so centered, almost symmetrical, that it kinda dies.

That said, I love every last one of those fish. Those furry silhouettes are really working well. I think a few of them could use a bit more lighting on the forms of the body but they really great. All I can think about when I look at them is how creeped out I would be if one brushed against my leg while I was swimming.

While the textures and colors in the fishes are interesting in themselves, as a series of designs they don't really tread any new territory. The chaotic, fuzzy fin-masses make it very difficult to read any defining structure beyond the fairly ordinary fish heads and bodies. The stark ordinary-ness of the recognizable fish portions contrasts, in my opinion, too strongly with the fins, and this is distracting to the point that I almost missed entirely the interesting swirled patterns you put into some of the fins. If you employed these swirls more prominently in both the fins and the bodies, lending some more readable structure, especially to the fins, they would be much more cohesive and interesting designs.
