Newbie with new question.
The color palette is quite limited. Is there a way for me to mix my own colors from the palate and permanatly save the new color to my palette?
Also, is there a way to scan in colors/textures and also save those to the palette permanantly?

how is the colour palette limited? You can get almost every shade you could possibly want. If your talking about colour swatches you can get anything from anpa and pantone colours all the way to web safe ones. Can you explain a little more about what you mean by scanning colours?

I think, if you RIGHT CLICK on the pallete, it gives you a list of other "categories" of colors. It has a lot of different ones, or just switch over to the pallete with the bars. You can probably get your color there too.

Hey guys, thanks for the response.
By colors, i meant the swatches. there's really a small selectiuon of bright, vibrant colors which I would want to mix to create new colors, then save these new colors as swatches in the window. Otherwise I have to constantly paint with multiple "glazes" everytime I want a different color than what's already available.
By scanning colors I mean scan in a photo or print which has a color/texture I want to use, take a sample of that scaned in image and save it to the swatches palatte. Is that doable?
I'm sorry to say i don't know what anpa or pantone colors are.
I am still finding my way through photoshop art.
Thanks Tristan

Stupid me.
s there anyway to add textures on PS or do I need to use a painting program for that?
Thanks folks.

You might want to check out Don Seegmiller's Book (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/1584503408).

You mean textures for brushes? Or the patterns? They're pretty much the same thing, but I think they are called "textures" when you use them with brushes. But, make whatever image you want to use as a texture. Then, just select it, and go to Edit>Define Pattern. Then, name it as you wish, and it'll be in the patterns section.
-To use it with the Pattern stamp tool, right click on the Clone tool, and select Pattern Stamp Tool. Then, you'll see a little drop down menu at the top beside the Opacity and Flow. Click the little arrow and look for your pattern.
-To use it with the brush tool, click on the brush. Then, go to the brushes menu, it should be at the top right. Check the texture box, and choose your texture from the dropdown menu. Change the blending mode and Texture scale for better looks.
geeze....thats more of a tutorial than a simple answer! :D
