for once, (and with scott robertson's advice in mind ... working a bit more on my pieces that is...) i did a more detail version for that space opera scene.
i will even be able to post a tut with a bunch of steps that some may find useful.
i'll give that pic to this interesting cgtalk contest.

hope you'll like it

Amazing piece! You always seem to make good use of those vibrant colours without killing the pic.

I can almost feel like I'm there.

wonderful,

perhaps the large vertical plane on the side of the ship could be broken up some more.

I wasn't convice by the previous version, but this one is worth the wait !!!

I love the light, and the depth, and the colors of the ships.

Well, you see it's a good thing to spend more time on a pic some times :))

Hey Saprth,

Ghost of Scott here! (thanks Oblio).
Looks great. Love the color palette and detailing. Only small point I have is that the far side of the canyon looks a long ways away, which adds nice depth, the problem I have is the cables that hang from the bottom of the ship seem to want to locate the ship closer to that farside of the canyon yet the value and color of the ship keep it very fixed nearer to the foreground side of the canyon. Maybe just delete the cables running to the farside of the canyon? Just a thought. Hope to be joining in again later this summer. I've been more than swamped....keep up the great work.

hey peeps. sorry i forgot to give feedbacks on the piece.
Cicinimo, Jnorish, enoc, RudeCorleone, metalwinds, Oblio, Goo, saturnfive, keun-chul, chukw, Loga4, phatlip, michael see, dodowa, facezero, KayCustomz: eternal thanx. :D

amphex: it wasn't really a cgtalk challenge, more a selection of images they wanted to do from piece we had to send.
Landmate: true, there's a slight defference between the back and the front of the thing. in fact, for the rear part i was thinking about a submarine. :s
bOne: hehe yea, it's a fact. it convinced me not to leave stuff unfinished too much. i love concept art so much, sometimes i've got to fight with myself in order to do not accept a piece as "finished".
scott: it's true. i just couldn't help adding tiny details on the intermediate plane. the cable are also far too big.
this piece could definitely be a tribute to the art you defend and create yourself. you're a great inspiration, thanx my friend.
