Felt like doin' a Spidey today. Didn't feel like giving him the full comic coloring treatment.

Wow, there was just now an uncommon amount of shame when I realized I made the webbing on the forearms going in different directions.

I never would have noticed if you hadn't mentioned it. Took me a few seconds to figure out what the heck you were talking about.

Spider-Man is a kid. He gets his powers at like...15 according [comic book] to canon.

I like it, and that's what matters most

I like the simplicity a lot and the graphic style, but I also think the pose could have been pushed a lot further, right now it's the least interesting part of the piece.

Tha anatomy is great, as far as I can see. SPidey is too undynaimc to be spidey though, I would have prefferred a more twisted torso and legs put at more dynamic position. I can't say I dig the colours. They sting my eyes. The highlights on the blue seems like blobs of ink IMO, they just feel wrong.. I like the shadows on the red though. The cityscape works, has a nice soothing colour to it. That's my opinion anyways.

i think, you should give him a real background. his head looks also a little big.

Nice piece, although I do agree with the comment that Spidey's pose is a little pedestrian, for me a good rule of thumb when doing a swinging Spidey, is 'pick his feet up as far as you can' & if you pick them up so much that he is upside down...all the better. At the mo' it reminds me of those swinging sequeces they used to put in the old (Spider-man, Spider-man; Does whatever a spider can...) cartoons. I like the fact that you've made him look young...too many artists draw him looking too old (I've been guilty of this myself at times), nice John Romita Sr head btw. I like the graphic approach to the b/g, although I would prefere to see the cityscape in a circle rather than a square/rectangle. All the anatomy looks fine, apart from his left lower leg, which looks too short, I know it's supposed to be fore-shortened, but for that to be the case it would have to taper much more toward the ankle, also I think his left foot is too small (the human foot should be roughly the same length as the distance between the elbow & wrist).

I like the pose, I'm all about ignoring the damage that McFarlane did to the character. I resent that you never see him swinging anymore without a spinebreaking, feet WAY UP HIGH pose.
Thanks peoples.

i agree with your last post here completely. he's constantly drawn as though he's using webshots to try and forcibly tear himself in two.
i like this simple, realistic version. snazzy.
