Equilibrium (2002)

If you haven't seen, go see it!!

Absolutely terrific movie. Awesome characters, scenes, graphics, action, EVERYTHING.

It was released in 2002 but aparently didn't do to well in theaters (due to lack of marketing) and just came out on video.
I was finally able to rent it tonight, and wow- surpassed my expectations.

Set in a future society in which human emotion is forbidden and is suppressed by drugs, the story follows the spiritual conversion of John Preston (Christian Bale), an agent who must administer the drug. Taye Diggs plays Preston's partner (Brandt). Very reminiscent of the book Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury.

This is definitely a must see.

I just finished watching it and was about to post a topic about it. Amazing scifi film! I was a little hesitant at the begging but as it went on I found I was really drawn to it. They did such a good job even though you can tell that the budget was kinda low. One of my favorite scifi/action films I've seen in a long time!

Yeah the movie did get a bit timid for 10-15 minutes near the beginning. But then you get really drawn to it.

It didn't seem soo low-budget, I think it was done pretty well. It's just a shame it didn't have the right marketing to do well in theaters- the movie had incredible potential to have a huge following. I don't even think there is an official website for it.

I would love to see some of the concept art for the characters (police, swat, clerics, etc...)

Yup, definitely one of my favourite sci-fi/action movies I've seen in a while.

dude, seriously, that movie is the outment cliché. it manages to mix in one movie every single existing sci-fic idea. from the drug using to supress emotions to the burning of art material... not to mention the obvious ofcourse.

YET its fun.

Camera work is pure ART!
