So I'm a SCAD sophomore who got to declare my major/minor early thanks to having lots of incoming credits, and back then I was all gung-ho to have a sequential minor. Now that some time's passed, though, and I really started thinking about it, I wonder: Do I really need a minor after all?
I know I enjoy doing sequential (comics), but it's something I have no desire to do professionally. And I frankly don't see the purpose in spending thousands of extra dollars on something that isn't going to have direct bearing on what I want to do when I graduatue.
On the other hand, to drop my minor would mean that I'd graduate early-- not that that's a problem, it would save me a hell of a lot of money, but I want to graduate with friends. Lame, I know, but that's really the only reason why I didn't want to do it. Unfortunately, that leaves me with the option of either choosing a minor, or not choosing one and being forced to take random extra classes to fill my Major electives-- electives that would've been filled by my minor, hence the reason that I would graduate in the same time with a minor as I would had I come in with no credits whatsoever.
So I turn to you knowledgeable folks-- any suggestions or advice from anyone whose been in a similar situation, or anyone with insights at all? I know the ultimate choice really falls down on what I want to do, but it helps to get outside opinions from a nuetral party.
