Just wrapped this one up... not entirely happy with the crown, but I won't change it unless there's a lot of "yeahhh, crown could be better."

EDIT- fixed some crappiness. See below.

The crown looks very flat compared to the rest of the image, the lighting on it doesn't match, and it's not sitting on the head properly. I think its a reference vs. no reference problem.

I agree with the previous posts, but also feel your skull could use some smoother transitions from light to dark, especially in eye sockets and under cheek bones (more definition, even wethen the shadows, it will make it pop more. The hair could be more interesting as well.

"yeahhh, crown could be better..." aswell.

You could use this piece as part of a more elaborate conception, like perhaps a montage of some sort with other characters, right now it's not grabbing me. The teeth and bottom of nose are really nice areas though. Keep going, I'd love to see what this turns into.

Personally, I might like to see some more detail, in the robe, for instance. The lighting, for the most part, rocks. But aye, many of the previous comments have been said. (duh.) Keep it up! :D.

This looks really good. I agree with others and say you can push this more -- in the crown and robe. Is Lich King from Warcraft? I think I remember it from my W3 days. You should enter it in their fan art contest.

Yeah crown could be better. As Elwell said, it is very flat. ALso, the entire thing is kinda boring to me, I think it is because there is nothing else going on, just the skeleton dude standing under a dim light...............sorry.

i really like the way it´s raw, with very little elements... it get´s macabre...

the fact that it's straight on somewhat bothers me. i've never liked symmetrical pieces, nor ones that aren't symmetrical but might as well be. they just look boring and there isn't much going on

that aside, the hair is rather nice {very}. but the crown doesnt look too convincing. if its made of gold, it shouldnt be as textured, it should be smoother and a lot more reflective

yeah, crown might look better redone. Looks too small.

It's a brush I downloaded from here: http://www.creativemac.com/common/search/NewSearch.jsp?keywords=photoshop+nagel&Search=Search&articleType=425&sites=3&matchFor=All&searchDepth=1500&sortBy=Date&numPerPage=100&siteid=3

I set the shape control to fade and went nuts. Very pleased with how that turned out.

I'm going to redo that crown, I'm just not happy with it and everyone seems to agree.

This isn't the Lich King of Warcraft- this is the mascot of a thrash metal band (http://www.myspace.com/lichkingband). Sad coincidence, apparently, that Warcraft came up with a "Lich King" guy too.

Hey Tom,
I'm thinking you need to go a bit wild with this image - you can still retain the same shape but give it a bit more spin.
Here's the overpaint - these are just my opinons feel free not to use them.
A sceptre or sword could be cool too - or maybe the old cliche - glowing eyes!

Ice, fire... I don't mind, I'm just saying it could be pushed further that's all..I too like the original.

(I'd like to go to their clothing shops mind - Evil fantasy overlord clothing emporium :) )

I think the skull looks to pale, to dull... it could have more expression of some kind, like a slightly open jaw or something, or at least the entire skull tilted "forward" just a bit. Give hime some kind of attitude!

im more worried about the crown then i am about the skull. Is that thing made from cloth???

sharpen it up bud ;)

Also, you dont have to go with either fire or ice...I like the current theme (all misty. Makes it look ancient) Try to bring out some of those hues more, dont be afraid to experiment with colours :)

Fixed the crown, touched up a thing or two. I like everything now. Sorry to have turned this into a WIP kinda thing, but it's set now. Thanks everyone for the comments!
