HEY EVERYBODY!

My name is Benjamin Hall and I am working as the new artist on the comic series Everknights by Kenzer Co.

Here is an upcoming cover for issue 8. (my second issue on the book)

It is a parody of the movie "Faster pussycat! Kill! Kill!"

Pencils and inks by me, colors by Marlena Troncoso "Zaney"

Just wanted to see what yall thought.

C+C PLEEZ!

BEEEN!! my brotha! you finally posted something..
this is good stuff man!
you really need to do an image dump for a formal introduction. :)

you always give me good and helpfull crits so i will return the favor.

great job on the line work! i think you used the heavy blacks in all the right places on this one. marlena did a nice job on the coloring too. my only crits on the coloring is it could use some more subtle yet hard lines in the in the value shelfing because right now it looks a bit too soft and fuzzy and up against your hard ink lines it looks a bit off. also you guys could maby work on the depth dynamics over all on the color to bring the important parts forward more. that could probably all be done with the color. try blurr your eyes at it and see what shapes pop out the most.. right now its the titts and her forward arm that spring out. id say try to make it a bit more unified. id do a paint over for you but my wacom is up at the office right now. :(

man,, i know you are under heinous deadlines for this comic and this piece was totally rushed,, but heres something to consider for future works.. being that the directions you were given for the action on the page "girl bending arm" isnt too dramatic as far as action goes,, you could have really made it more interesting with a more dramatic angle like from slightly above or below with a touch of forshortening and a better view of her face, "which i think is important since its a cover".
right now its pretty much a squared off and straight forward wiev. maby if you placed them on a more angled plane, like with 45 degree angles in the background or whatnot..

i also reccommend looking through your comics and identafying which covers you think would leap off the shealf at you the most,, and then try to single out the properties of those covers that make them work so well.. then either apply that information to your work or directly rip off the effect. :)
i personally think thats the best way to understand a tecnique.
its like the whole master copy thing..

any way i hope this helps..

you need to show more of your stuff here.
you are the ripper!

WOW!

Thanks Bro!

I really appreciate it.

Mar colored it with my close supervison. We are both still relativly new to color and are still playing around with "like" color schemes. Focus and value are still being worked on...you have a good point.

Sadly comic art really isn't a finished piece until all the type and logo's are added, I intentionally left spaces for logo design....I really should of posted the finished version to get a feel of the full compostion.

I also didn't approve of the straight foward image, but since this is a parody I didn't want to stray too far from the original image.

I messed around with the character sizes, switched the direction of the guy on the ground so you could recognize the character and slighty curved his arm to get a better pressure effect.

Thank you so much for the awesome crits! As always I appreciate your honesty!!!! What do you think of the finished piece?

Wolvie: Thanks! Yes my friend, that is a Drow elf.

NO NO NO!

You are correct as always.

After I was done...I was like....man I wish I didn't have the constraints of the image I was using. It's very flat.

But I think it works.

I like it alot better with the added text as well.

Thanks!

MetalKnuckleUziRider: Yeah, you are correct, When I drew it the first time you could only see the back of the guy's head. The editor made me change it due to you could not recognize the character...which I thought was a valid change.

enoc: Thanks!
