This has been posted at a few other sites.
I edited several things though, just trying to get exposure.

Team name: Outerspacecrew

Project name: Outerspace

Brief description:
Outerspace is a open-ended space exploration RPG with hundreds of fractal planets, several races and an epic plot. The
game is designed after the PC classic Starflight. Currently, the engine is about 50-60% done and in a usable state.
You'll be able to create a crew, build a ship, and explore the Universe however you wish, landing on planets, harvesting minerals and life forms
and encountering friendly and hostile races while the plot unfolds.

Target aim:

The game will be closed source freeware. It's target audience is: Fans of similar games, Starflight, StarControl etc.
Anyone that likes a Sci-Fi RPG.

Compensation:
The game is freeware so there is no monetary compensation. None of us are getting paid, and we all work pretty hard. I'll do some nice things for someone willing to help though, like pay for a registed copy of Milkshape 3d, and Paint Shot Pro 8. That's the best I can do. You will of course get exposure, experience and credit.

Technology:
The engine is written in .NET and DirectX 9.0. We currently use Milkshape to make meshes. Any 3d modeler is acceptable, as
long as the final product is a compatible DirectX 9.0 mesh.

Talent needed:
Primarily an artist. The art we need is mostly simple 3d meshes (planetside life, plants, animals) a few bigger nicer 3d meshes (ships, starbases),
some texture maps for the planet terrain and perhaps a few larger static scenes. That's about it. I'm comfortable with the size of our team currently.

Team structure:
Currently, we have 2 contributing programmers, an experienced composer, and are receiving various minor contributions from
several people.

Additional Info:
This is a fun project. No need to be stressed out working on it. We are plodding along. Art would bring a lot
of things to life I feel. Contributions of 10-20 hours a week are perfect.

This game looks like it would work well pretty much entirely in 2d. Out of curiosity, what is the 3d necessary for?

The planetside, orbital and terrian exploration parts of the game are actually rendered in 3d, the viewpoint during terrian exploration is 2d however.

3d meshes will be used on the terrian. There is dynamic lighting and such, so they'll look better with the lighting, as opposed to sprites.

Also, since the engine is actually 3d, it's much eaiser to render meshes.
