Dude, one game you just must have is Advance wars: Dual strike . one of the best strategy games i've played, very simple but still great. alot of diffrent modes and multiplayer.
Imo mariocart doesnt have the same feel as the 64 and GC versions so you get kinda disappointed because it's not _as_ good. but you should not demand that from a DS version I guess, propably great in multiplayer tho.

Yep advance wars is amazing!
Make sure that you have more than one copy of the game though for stuff like mario kart, unless you want to play as koopa (who rocks)

I actually have to disagree about the DS Mario Kart. I find the DS version so much more fun.

I'm just going to go through and list as many as I can think of. Some of which have already been written down.

New Mario Bros (some of the mini games are really fun, and the rest of the game is awesome as well)
Mario Kart
Advance Wars
Metriod Hunters
Tony Hawk
ANIMAL CROSSING
Super Mario 64 (Mini games)
Bomberman
Tetris DS
Age of Empires

That's all of the multiplayer I can think of. There are plenty of GBA games that are good fun also.

if i had to reccomend 3, i'd go with Metroid Hunters, Animal Crossing, and Advance wars. Metroid is quite stunning on the DS, its incredible what they can acheive on such a small system. The multiplayer is as fun, if not more, than the single player campaign, so that should keep you occupied. unfortunately, Hunters has a bad habit of causing hand cramps, unless you can find a way to prop up your DS. Animal crossing is a delightfully simple, childish game that gets deviously addictive. You may get turned off to it at first, but you're not going to want to put it down, especially when you visit eachothers towns. Advance wars will and always has been one of my favorite series, if you havent played it, get it now.

cool, thanx so far guys...what about the number of cartridges?

Do we need 3 single versions or can 2 download from the host player like in Tetris DS?

it varies from game to game, but i think most games offer simplified multiplayer modes off of one cartridge, I would check out the individual titles on nintendo.com or something.

From what i've read, most games allow you to play off one catridge, but some games do have limitations, for Metroid as an example, you are only allowed to choose one type of hunter when feeding off someone elses catridge.

in terms of multiplayer I hear nsmb has excellent 2 player co-op where you run through the levels together and have to take the stars to the finishing line
