Hi all, here's various environment concept images that I've done for Unreal mods over the last few months.
Background: I'm an architect trying to get into the game development industry as a level designer / environment artist, these are part of my web portfolio so please don't spare the crits!
I'd be really grateful for advice / comments / crits, thanks.
apologies for the big image size

those sure are hella good
the last one has even some sort of feeling into it(for my part)
the second is a stunner.absolutely sweet
just two crits from my side:
on the second pic the second tower seems to trip over a little bit and on the third the landing platform looks also like it's gonna trip and fall down
otherwise evrything is just plain superb:cool:

Jim,
I really enjoy your work. I've seen some of the other stuff you have done on your site and posted elsewhere. I think the last two concept images you show here are your best out of the bunch. I also like the futuristic city one you did. I'm not sure of the name, but it has almost a 3/4 perspective looking down the city and it's in warm colored markers.
Keep up the great work and take care.
Btw, how's Dark Horizons coming along?

Embee: thanks mate :) the two last ones are my latest, so that's good to hear.
Camifex: thanks, yes the second one is quite borked, I seem to remember I was in rather a hurry and just pasted the left hand one over to the right and scribbled on it, it's a bit ropy really, but I like the idea, so I guess I ought to redo it properly.
The third one I started with the left hand side, and extended it to include the landing pad when it was nearly finished, so the perspective becomes very distorted to the right.
Sgt Skinner: good to hear from you again, havn't seen your stuf since the U2 boards plummeted. You still making those cool sculptures? Alas Dark Horizons is no more, sadly (pics 2,3,4,5,7 were for DH) :(
The abandoned city?..Sounds like an excuse to pimp this one again..:D

you might want to try the creative assembly. They are a company just twenty minutes from you on the train (Horsham) and I happen to know that most of the guys who work there live in brighton.
They are responsible for Medieval total war et al so perhaps you should consider desinging some classical medieval/viking/roman/shogun type buildings and submitting your portfolio to them.
Do you know any 3d packages? You will probally need to know some basic 3dsmax and also be able to texture in photoshop. Anyway good luck and nice work.

Alti: thank you
Jnorish: thanks man, I think they are my favourites too.
Enoc: cheers!
Spacemonkey: nice one for that tip-off mate, they make some very cool games, I'll definitely send something off to them next week. (I've been using Max and PS for quite a while) thanks :)
Sgt Skinner: Hey that's really cool, I love Hawkprey's stuff, looks like there is a ton of detail in there. You even made a good job of the teddy bear!. I'll keep my eye out for your models. cheers.

great concepts. I can tell the architecture background definitely helps with the perspective. favorites are 2, 4 and 9, plus the pic in your second post.
#3 seems to be a little too hidden with the snow storm effect. I would like to see the building a little more.
#8 seems to be a little heavy on the lines; compare to #9—the lines seem to go with the design, whereas in #8 they seem to be more purposely outlining the buildings, kind of jumping out from the design of the building. it gives it a more "comic book" feel I guess.
checked out the website. cool stuff there too. :)
