Looks like a pretty nice piece to me. I'd like to see it posted a little bigger (closer to 600x800). As for the lighting, it all seems a bit diffuse to me, which isn't the most dramatic thing you could've done, though I don't think the lighting is a major issue in this piece. Nothing wrong with diffuse lighting used correctly.
What's more of a concern might be the flatness of the ground. The warrior guy and the monster are both painted quite well, but the setting they're in is pretty blah. The angle here is pretty boring too. It just make the piece not jump out as much as you'd think the subject would warrant.
Is it supposed to look like the warrior is wearing a smiley frog face mask and staring goofily at the viewer? If it's not, I can't really tell what's going on with his head.

Your purple is only in the middle of your picture. You should compose it around some and paint it into other parts of your picture. Your black could be used to make a person look at the important parts.

The green is WAY overpowering, and it's too vibrant, too. There's also no variation to the green...I mean, it would look 10x better if the green varied slightly in hue (olive green, lime green, kelly green, forest green, goat-vomit green etc) because right now it just seems to be a bit much.

I agree with you all, guess I needed to hear it. The background was kinda thrown around the characters. thats y they are more detailed. The trouble i was having with the ground was getting to make it look like moss..i looked at several pics of what i wanted but just couldnt get to come out.

The flower thingie looks cool but the character looks warped, like you used the tranform option in photoshop....especially the head...
