Here's something new. He's supposed to be some sort of druid - barbarian hyrbid...sorta. Or maybe it's just a big guy with an axe. =) Anwyays, comments are welcome.

it bugs me how there hasnt been any replies yet.
i think this is really good.
it seems that the orcs or villains are a tad bit blurry which tends to give the barbarian more of the focus point...
excellent job in creating that effect.

if i had to critique something, id say to work a bit more on the clouds, tighten them up a bit, but then again, the colors you chose work really well in bringing your characters to life.

good work.

the picture is very well rendered and evrything but i can't help the feeling that something is wrong the way he holds the axe,i think it should be turned away more from the viewer.
and where did he hit that enemy he's having his foot on?
there is no blood except where the mouth is.
and i can't believe that such a big axe only causes a little rill of blood from the mouth:rolleyes:
oh and where's he looking?shouldn't he look for his next enemy instead of staring onto the ground?
otherwise there is no critique from my point of view

that is a really nice piece of art there :)
it would have been really cool if he held the axe in a single hand, swinging it around like a lunatic, with a shield :D

Nice work man. I agree the creatures do look a bit blurry though.

cool pic--frazzetta style

i think the top half of the piece is good as is--

i think the rock cliff and tree branches could get tightened up a bit

the guy in BG on bottom left feels weird--like hes coming out of the rock or somn

well done sir

lol Frazetta style...;)... hrrrm please dont overuse Frazetta refering to computerpaintings please...;) He is a true master that we should keep away from puter art...;)

Ok, well some crit.
Try and use more scattered brushes so you get a more painted feel. Its seems you have used a roudbrush or something wery even in shape. Its to computerpainted in my opinion, to flat and soft. Dont be afraid to show the strokes.

ALso he looks at something that isnt there or outside the canvas. Try to get him to focus on another character that he isnt bashing. That creates some tension. Also give him a more suttle look. It will give him a more evil majestic feeling as he is enjoying it kind of feeling. But not to calm though.

ALso perhaps you shouldnt go all the way with the detail on the rocks. Perhaps some quick larger strokes will do the trick with some added msaller detail.

Great focus in the image though.

Good work

i think there's nothing wrong with smoothness.
but it might be wrong to have a smooth edge in a barbarian
type painting.

thanks for the feedback.

I do have a tendency to leave BG elements loose and soft, some of that is trying to achieve focus, some of it is just plain laziness. I'll keep this mind.

Molin; thanks, you make some good points. I agree that parts do seem too smooth, looking at this again....I guess that's a product of my round brushes, as you point out.

Heh...I kinda like his eyes...sort of half-crazed/desperation/bloodlust thing going on....but I appreciate your guys' opinions.

cheers

Blackarts,

I like the power in your image here you have alot going thats wonderful. I enjoy battle scenes like these, I love the main figures expression..his helmet gots a Hawkman thing going on but its nice I like that.

My advise or crit would be to add some cool colors to your figures skin tones..try to always add a little of the sky colors brightest tone to your skin tones highlights..that will instanly make your figures/objects surface colors relate to the environments colors that effect them..if that makes any sense.

Also some rough textures on the rocks.ground will really work nicely and compliment your smoothe rendering of the figure and even give that traditional painting look to your digital work, if thats what you would like to do.

But anyway please keep posting and I hope this was helpful.
And if it wasnt ..well damn..:)
