I've decided to create a character but i really need your opinion to improve. Here are the first sketches. I would like to work on the big guy but i need to know what are the mistakes i'm making.

I think one thing that would help right away is to find some pictures of some big guys and reference them. The anatomy on these two is all over the place.

definitely do an anatomy check.. but a good base either way. I get the idea, it just needs some serious propotional work.

Thanks for the advice. I already started doing some anathomy sketches. I have to get it sooner or later, right?

after correcting the anatomy you can think about special features that define your character

anatomy...that is all...and then you will know how to make some of armor and other stuff becose they all go on the body...and if the body is not right you know how will armor look....look to other drawing or even batter draw stuff from real life...

Here are some arm sketches after looking at some anathomy pictures and photos. Tell me if this is better or not. I'll continue with the torso.

Hey Dan I. Personally I think the second thing you did is getting better then the first one.

I think you're on the right way, but if I were you I'd focus on the complete body first. Get these proportions (of the whole body) right first. Afterwards start studying arms legs and strong belly's and stuff.

Just find a book in the library or find some anatomy lessons on this site, learn the proportions of the normal man 's body first. Then buy a magazine about bodybuilders or anything. And study the proportions.

Focus on the detailed things in the end. Good luck

Basic proportions. I'm really tired so they're not too good, i'll do some more later.

One really vital aspect to keep in mind as you study anatomy is to make certain you're also studying how the different parts move. Perfect proprtions are only half (or less) of good anatomy.

Some more basic proportions use.

So far so good. I can see you have been practising and its good to see you're into drawing! So keep it up and don't stop drawing, but i have to say, yry to figure out where the muscles lie under the skin and how they work and move when youe character moves his arm or leg. I'm no expert so i can't really say anything lol. I'm currently working on anatomy myself, but you're doing a good job :)

Good work. You should try to get a bit looser style when it comes to lines. You shouldn't really care how the drawings come out but just make a lot of them and keep on drawing. Don't take the time to ink the pencils.
Draw fast and loose. After 40 drawings you can pick out which one is the coolest and reward yourself with working that one out.
Try to make a complete body in 5 minutes.
Just a suggestion.

Thats starting to look better! You've been added in the muscles now. Ok, what i suggest now, is that you try to draw an arm, or a chest, but give him/her skin and use your pencil to shade around the muscles so we can still see them slightly :) Try looking in a mirror with your light on and try to see where the shadows are that form around the muscles and curves in your body :)

I did a 20 min sketch today trying to use some of the things I've learned so far, but I really think it looks better on paper.
