Hossa!

So... According to the feedbacks i got on the last picture i published in here, i decided to do again some more... conventional stuff... ;) (i didn't get any answer, because the picture was quite weird and the style not very concept-art-like)

So here is the new one:

It's important to say, that it wasn't my idea to do this one. If you checked the "creature-thread" in this forum, you possibly noticed this one (http://www.dropship1.com/art/creatureHeads.jpg) which is (in my humble opinion) absolutely f***in awesome. I just sat in front of my screen and looked at those sketches.
However, i'm not the "father" of this creature. sad but true. :( ;)

I don't draw since a very long time, so i really have to improve my skills. i know this and i also know that my picture cannot mess with ~98% of the stuff published here. Starting is never easy and i would like to hear some ideas and critics how i could improve my drawing skills. So please be honest and take just some minutes to write me a comment...

Thanks a lot.

btw: sketches (http://www.circum.ch/drawing/images/triceratopian-sketch.jpg) - bad scan and not very helpfull, just to get a better sense of how i got to the one above

before you start a sketch do a quick layout use circles and basic shapes to lay out your creature add surface lines in areas that will help you with the dementions then start to build on the sketch..

also you might want to do a skeletal sketch of your creature .. because your main problems are in the anatomy

keep getting inspiration from other sketches and doodles ... find some stuff you like.. and don't feel ashamed to trace anything to get everything down.. ya gatta learn from somewhere

Mhm. Thanks a lot.

Are there any very basic tutorials/references in anatomy that you use(d)? online? books?

Another sketch i did recently which (IMHO) is a bit better than the last one... even though the creature looks quite different now.

C&C still welcome!

// Maybe an admin could move this thread in the "Work in progress" Forum...? thx.

it's commin' along but I sugest not doin' a straight on front view head shot.. it's always hard to make those work.. do a little perspective shot and it should come out better

I took an anatomy class.. but I sugest goin' online and downloading some skeletal shots of ceratopsians and great apes
