The Mixer Brush

A bunch of artist here at work are in love with the Mixer brush, but
we are having a hell of a time makeing it. Most of us have used
painter for years and still cant seem to make it look and act like the
Mixer brush.

Does the mixer brush use a diffrent brush engine then the other
brushes?

Has anyone had any sucsess in duplicating this brush?

Making a smeary brush is not what im after here. Adjusting the bleed
and resat while painting is a pain, id like to just use one brush at a
time.

Could someone post the brush file if they have it?

You don't need to adjust the brush each time you want to blend or paint.

Just create a mixer brush and save it as a custom variant. If you give it a name similar to the brush you're using to paint, it'll appear in the brush variant list close to that brush.

Better yet, move the brushes you use most into a new brush category with a name that appears at the top of the brush category list. Then they'll be readily accessible while you work.

It's much easier, quicker, ... and nicer because you can do it with a lot of brush variants ... to mix colors either on the working image or on a blank Canvas opened just for that purpose than using the Mixer palette, in my opinion and that of a lot of other experienced Painter users.

Jin, you are not understanding the question (and I already asked this question some times ago)

N8x is talking about the brush used in the new mixer palette in painter8

this brush you can ONLY use in the mixer palette, and that corel didnt took the time to do a version useable for painting ...

the real question is : has someone ever managed to mimic the brush used in the mixer palette IN ORDER to use it for real painting on the canvas ...

I've had a play, but have concluded that the mixer brushes algorithms have been specifically tailored for this purpose. Both the mix color and apply color brushes (in the mixer palette) are based on palette knives (stating the obvious), but other than that...?

these brushes are better than the real palette knives we have in the usable tools ...

You can make a feature request to have these brushes available in a Painter 8 update or the next full version.

Corel are interested in our requests and feedback, and I have recently reminded Painter's new product manager of the wish list at Conceptart, which he acknowledged with gratitude.

Sorry you thought I didn't understand the question. I failed to respond to it directly, thinking it was pretty obvious the Mixer brush is not available as a normal brush variant.

My own conclusion is that the best that can be done is to continue working to create a brush variant that comes as close as possible.

Personally, I like a lot of other brush variants better than the Mixer brush and almost never open the Mixer.

I hope you find a way to do what you want. Better yet, it would be nice if Corel would supply us with the Mixer brush. I think a lot of people would be happy.

We'll have to wait and see how responsive they are to our requests.
