The ‘Novgorod- 47’ Prototype testing facility is the most technology-advanced institution on Hyplochia. When the 12th Imperial War broke out in the year 2450, this facility proved to be one of the best testing grounds for the then infamous tactical combat droid ‘Seu’.
Currently, unmanned sentry drones are being tested since Novgorod-47 has fallen under control of ‘The Elders’.

^ this is of course a prototype testing facility. one room out of the entire facility, but you must know this isn't for the usual matters. This is a facility for digitize warfare. It is completely self-containing. All the employees are required to live here for the duration of their lives. None one knows who runs the facility or how they communicate with the outside world. The only thing they know is that they must work or termination is required.

The year is 2979, world climate has reached a breaking point created by constant upset in the pollution level. New outbreaks of holes in ozone layer hiked global warming resulting in melt down of the North and South poles.
Facing an uncertain future for mankind, The International Environmental Agency launched a global campaign to desperately restore the ever changing climate and battle against acid rains. Major research and testing centres were established around most effected areas. The campaign involved collecting data to find a cure for Earth's dying atomosphere by launching millions of micromachines into the storm. The first prototype of micromachines were launched in 2981.

Before Oscar Goldman implanted it to Col. Steve Austin and before the Bennet family became the Bionic Six... everything started at this small lab somewhere in an Arizona desert. Originally intended for special covert combat agents during the Cold War, the B-Project was later diverted towards the defense of humanity.

J.Mac - That description fits really well to my current job.

IcyM - Nice play with light. Has a certain voyer feel to it.

Damn.. Rawwad, Bumskee or hideyoshi ? harrrdd to choice between...
Ok Bumskee : I love your one, but I dont think
it fits the concept!

Hideyoshi: This one was my fav from start! I am really a fan of your
stuff! but as bumskes's it doesnt really fit the topic, sure the concept
does, but not as well as rawwads!

So... my thouhgs are pretty self explaining, my VOTE goes to RAWWAD

Rawwd got my vote this time around. Very evocative and a strong concept I think. Hideyoshi, yer stuff is super well rendered, but I felt Rawwd's image was more conceptually strong. I have seen a lot of space port images and this didnt feel different enough for it to be a 'prototype testing facility'. Gorgeous image though! Must find time to gt back into these.

That is so hard. I love hideyoshi and Bumskee but Rawwad it is for designing the whole darn thing.

v - Hideyoshi

Onesided. Rawwad put forth respectable effort, but Hideyoshi had the better piece of artwork.

Voted for Hideyoshi... it's just so pretty! I loves me some light streaks!

Rawwad: I loved your complete layout of the facility. That's something I feel like you do pretty often when creating concept work, laying out multiple frames with multiple views/stages of the concept for maximum comprehension.

Bumskee: It was a great piece and a great concept, but it seemed more like a scientific observitory for weather data collection than a prototype testing facility for the actual data collecting machines.

IcyM: Bionic Six... hellz yeah!

My vote would have to go to Hideyoshi the use of color and perspective are well balanced. But if I could vote twice bumskee would get it for the use of texture in what appears to be clouds or smoke. But they are all great. :-}

bumskee!
I love his creative take on this! Very realisitic cloud render! Just eye-catchy all the way! So he gets the vote!
Rawwad- runner up, slick concept!
Hell, every one did such a superb job this round! Each entry has strong content to present! Great round!
thx for comments and votes!

Voted for ICYM. I liked the mood, and to me that is the one that feel more like a prototype testing facility. That and Rawwad's. All the other ones feel more like either factories, or labs...dunno, that's just my personal opinion.
Bumskee, I love yours, love it love it love it, but again, it doesn't really feel prototype testing to me. It is a gorgeous painting, though, and if this was on beauty alone I would have voted for yours.

Seriously great work from all you guys

Bumskee and Hideyoshi are both divinely painted. But with the other particpants, it didn't feel "prototype lab" enough. I went with Rawwad's, it followed the concept along with excellent painting and design!

hideyoshi-overall the most aesthetically pleasing and technically impressive of the bunch but in regards to the brief i think it falls short.

my vote went to rawwd-best description of the brief, although i would have liked to have seen more details.

Hideyoshi, bumskee love your works <3
It´s fifty-fifty for me, and I have only one vote, damn, hard choice :xpld:

.......:x

I vote for Hideyoshi - Excelent work, fantastic dynamic style and brushwork, composition and idea is absolutly amazing. But most I like your sentry drones, yeah, these stupid balls, which looks so cool! Perfect work man :)

2nd bumskee - also excelent work, fantastic monumental idea, that clouds rocks, wow! :^^: And Laboratory station a bit reminds me blaster canons from Hoth in SW. Well done!

1st - Hideyoshi: What rocks about your piece has been said already. But I love the contrast in the colours, which makes the piece stand out.
This was my favourite from the start.
(I hope you understood my crit posted on the original thread)

2nd - Bumskee: Yours nearly got my vote, just the epic feel from the composition and the amazing painting, but the relation to the subject matter was a quite hard to see - and the subject matter and ability to communicate the design to another person is the goal of a good designer :)
Though I do appalud you for trying for something different, almost abstract!

Speculart: Divide yours down the middle and on the left side is a potentially awesome piece, I have to keep on looking at it to see all the colours that make up the 'products' in the test tube. Technically the use of colour and shading in this half is stunning, keep at it.
The right side of the picture appears unfinished, which is a shame really as altering this side completely and touching up the other side could have seen a winning piece. I would keep at it.

FunkytownP : Worthy of mention, the rendering of this piece is awesome, although the subject matter appears a little clouded.

Excellent work to everyone - I love to see consistently good work from everyone that submitted a piece in this thread

My vote goes to speculart. It's the one that best fits the assignment of a "prototype testing facility". Some of the other stuff may look awesome but could be pretty much everything.

I voted for FunkyTown and I feel the need to explain. I love Environment of the Week because it brings out some of this site's best artists and makes everyone do a complete scene, whereas with Creature or Character we only have to do a single subject without much background.

Everyone here does a magnificent job, but from a traditional art perspective using a critique set comsisting of emphasis, compostion, contrast, and tone, I had to go with FunkyTown. It was the best in that regard.

Bumskee, I'm always amazed by your stuff, and this one is truly badass.

Hideyoshi, equally awesome, I don't know how you do that so quickly.

Really liked Migsta's and Rawwad's as well.
