My way of coming up with a character.
First I draw whatever comes up in my head.

After that I think about what would be the coolest when it comes to gear and clothing.
Turned out like this.

Still needs a lot more detail, so Ill probably make 1 or 2 more drawings of her.

Crits are welcome, Im aware of the stiff superman pose :)

I understand your frustration about the people not posting. So allow me the honor to tear apart your work.
Anatomy: rework the eyes; sketch ovals and work from there.
I like the way you did her hair in your fist sketch. If you want it short, make it look closer to that.
The wrist look like they are made from spaghetti, give them some form.
Her left breast is lower then her right. there's a manga book out there that spends forever on how to draw women's breasts; get it. Ithink it's call How to draw female manga characters.
Legs and clothing, not much of a problem other then maybe adjusting her stance.
Line work: I know it's a sketch but I think this is an opportunity to get some line weight practice in.
Color: Go pick up a comic book where the colorist did some insane highlight and shadow work and take notes.
Shadows: See color.
Don't concern yourself on other peoples compliments, pay attention to there criticisms. This is coming from a guy who has a Masters Degree in Fine Art (MFA) and still sucks at drawing. Therefore WE BOTH NEED TO PRACTICE.
